Safe Space

When danger seeps

some gentle press of melancholy

a tremulous catch upon the throat

or the heavy weight of torpor,

make haste to your safe space

put on a heavy coat of books

hide beneath a rich curtain of music

be guarded by old family photographs

precious mementos will warm you

summon strength from old diaries

and epic poems,

reminisce with fishing rods

The unchosen path

Do not seek the armpit of distress

Bury your head

Lock the door

Draw the curtains

And pull up the drawbridge of despair

Do not fear the uncertain breeze

Of cough and of sneeze

Be the people you are destined to be

Meet the challenge

Light the light

Of love and of hope

Don’t run like frightened hungry rats

You are not one of a pack

You are part of a fami...

The smallest tendrils of smoke rising from the dying coals

Maybe I'm just too old now for passion

Maybe I've let my fear become my life

Am I any different since I've done it all to myself?

Am I any less selfish since all I do is display my emotions?

What is the meaning if I can't remember the words

Spoken to me early and quickly ignored

Blindly through feeling with no thought ...

(Of William Butler Yates)

Here beside the many tombs

the bones of Yeats are re interred

under bare Ben Bullen’s head

where once a kinfolk Rector

psalmed – a church stands near and

beside the road an ancient cross

at Yeat’s plot, are chiselled words

poetically embossed:

‘Cast a cold eye

on life, on death

Horseman pass by.’

Boy Without A Story

He doesn't ride anywhere
not a flying horse
or one fashioned in gold
he has walked these hard streets
apparently every day
have you seen him?

Too shy to sing out
no will to write
no telling his past or future
he stood where doors were closing
and still when lights went out
who knew?

Not recognised in the mirror
nor noticed in the dream
he has taken clouds for his friends

The silhouettes of trees

inspires a poem in me

the fiery sky highlights

the dark gracefulness of trees

No matter where we see

sunsets are always free

This poem will obviously

ne'er compare to trees like these.

Friend or foe??

She has been sneezing in her palm

Rubbing the dirt all around

Coughing on my face

Rubbing her bare finger on my hand

Touching my clothes after coughing

Trying to hold me after sneezing

Is she a friend or a foe, difficult to say

Actions speak louder than words

Her actions bad to my dismay

She is lost in some deep thoughts so as to say

I just have trust problems develop...

My poems wrapped in a box,
delivered but only to be forgotten
my heart still in shock
you were going away
never to be seen again

when I would fly thousands of miles

what loving you was like

Honestly, I don’t think I want to even write this poem.

Because as soon as I begin, I will fall for you all over again.

It’s ironic how much I loved you when I didn’t love myself.

I feel like all the words, all the phrases, everything you said,

It was all a sick joke.

Loving you felt good, and when I believed you loved me too, I felt okay.

But now I portray that I am okay,

Grandma used to tell this story, how she drove a truck into a wall,

Things go relatively fast in England,
And traffic lights are no exception -
For pedestrians, a young fleet-of-foot’s
Street-crossing time seems the selection.
But if - re the aged - leaders increase times,
It surely won’t cost them election.

To be something you wish you weren't,
As though that could be true,
Let's take another dip?

Take this breath deep.

Sank this way,

Eyes shot,
My blood seeps through the veins,
And the rolled ends split.

In a decedant moon.

Nah just such audacity,
