Smiles

Upon first glance,

I see a Hollywood smile,

an air of intrigue greets passers by.

But, when I look into her eyes,

I see something much different

than her pursed lips convey.

Reservation, disappointment,

distrust, trauma, fear...

all pushed down, covered

with happy highlights

for the world to see.

Perhaps, it’s simply a reflection

of my insecurities,

but then again,

my eyes aren’t green.

How true V 'The times they are a changing' as one of my favourite song writers said.

..."Come writers and critics
Who prophetize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Thanks Po! I agree, things are often not as they appear and in the age of the social, many of the manipulators are being exposed, thanks to those who dare to give victims a voice and wield the mighty pen!

What a sad life she lived V.

Having her childhood stolen and being controlled and manipulated from birth until death.

As, sadly are so many still to this day.
Having very little self-esteem and lack of self worth.

The entertainment game is as rife with horror stories as it ever was, if one looks beneath the surface of the smiles and makeup.

A great insight V that many fail to see, seeing only the glamour and the glitzy.
