Adopt
I was taken from this horrible place
All dark and cold and covered in waste
Separated from my sisters and brothers
Now in a cold prison with so many others
Pushed on the floor in a steel cage
Nothing for warmth, will I be here an age
They pushed in some scaps and a few drops of water
And wrote my name down on the next list for slaughter
Light coming in I awaken to cries
This man bangs...

Ode to Percy…(a cats best friend)
Watching the leaves fall
Standing so tall
Waiting at the window
I still wonder
It wasn't so long ago
I can still see us
Haunting shadows in the dusk
Running, fighting, climbing
Making footprints in the snow
Your furry figure lingers at the edges of my mind
Gone but not forgotten
Your smile runs to hide
Sunny days fade away
As your ghost lies st...

OVER THE HUMP
Great Britain has a terrible squirrel problem
Now animal control blames budget cuts
British scientists working on a contraceptive pill
Since trying to neuter them, is just nuts

Under cover of the night
Shufflings in the shrubbery,
leapings on the lawn,
furtive assignations and who knows what skullduggery,
surreptitious shadow shapes, sundown to dawn.
It’s my own familiar garden but it happens out of sight:
it’s all undercover
…under cover of the night.
Nighttime was a blank space, destitute of life,
a time I’d stop the clock and quit the world.
But then I bought a...

The Lizard
the lizard lay
motionless
not dead,
just content
soaking in the golden rays
bathing in the summer warmth
nestled soundly
atop his rock
eyeing the rising sun
and minding the heat
sure to follow
soon to drain the life from his limbs
dry the life
from his domain
and soon, each breath
grows heavy with the weight of the last
not quite on pace

Little Rabbit
Despite time moving quickly around it, the little bunny rabbit goes slow.
All the other little rabbits hop in time but this one falls behind.
No one knows it's there, no one really cares.
Feet so small they barely make a sound.
Inferior to the rest.
Although the sun lights the way, the finish line is still far away...
but the little rabbit carries on.
Desperate to get to ...

Clever Tara
Our dog ran away what could I say
as she pulls on my hand
simply wouldn’t stay
was gone in a flash
where the leash from behind
bounced with a crash
I chased wildly behind
without any gain
as the poor thing ran going insane
the clamor the clacking
making such a roar
all the neighbors tore from
their front door
“what’s this my goodness?!”
they all ye...

Kudu kudu
Kudu kudu
how magical to view you
your pinstripe torso and your curtain fringe mane.
Kudu kudu,
posing like a statue
licking at the dawn dew
lifting your head and sniffing for rain.
Kudu kudu
horns in a corkscrew
your muzzle with a tattoo,
a sharp white horseshoe,
you master the plains.
The bush birds of Africa
are setting up a clamour.

I have a heart too
When talking about rights, we often mistake rights, as something only humans can possess. But rights are nobody's property. Human being is not the only organism on Earth. We mustn't forget that we share Earth with numerous other species. Hence, every organism has got rights. But we don't respect these rights. Here's a poem that depicts the feelings of a few animals who've been captured and oppress...

Wolf
I once saw a wolf in the woods
Felt the cold glare of its emerald eyes
I was alone and defenseless
And scared
Because I was just a child
But wolf showed me mercy
Like a noble king and not a dictator
And left me with a warning never to return to his forest again
I once saw a wolf in a zoo
His foggy eyes week and winded on mine
I stood tall but ashamed
Becaus...

Giraffe
I heard that Giraffes have been protected from being slaughtered for their body parts for the first time this week....So a celebratory poem
It's Wonderful to have
A long neck
It reaches up
To the sky
I can nibble leaves
On treetops
And smile at
Birds
As they
Fly by
It's just
Great
Having this
Long neck
I can see
For Miles around
I always k...

HELL, NO!
Two apes having a head-to-head:
"It's friggin' absurd!" one of them said,
"Eight million species inhabit this earth,
Balancing nature and proving their worth;
But look at those creatures that are called 'man':
Ruining our planet as fast as they can;
They've polluted our air and poisoned the seas;
Their revolting habits cause death by disease!
Some of them perish with nothin...

Nature's Banquet
Nature’s Banquet
I am the humble Wildebeest -
Mother Natures moving feast.
My mother warned “Don’t wander off
or you’ll end up a Lion’s scoff”.
Some folk call me a Gnu,
I’ve heard it all, there’s nothing new
In puns that you may decide to frame
around this inauspicious name.
I guess I’ll never have a life
of family bliss with kids and wife,
cause every da...

Bob War (Ode to Humane Farming)
I was an adult before I realized that barbed wire is not called Bob War, because that was how my grandfather pronounced it, and he happened to be the person who mentioned it to me most often, as he was the person who would always tell us kids that we needed to help repair the fence. Some concerned neighbour would call to tell him some of the cows were out, and he’d tell us to grab some Bob War and...

Like crocodiles
Words, feeling, deeds,
nothing could tell you where this alley leads,
standing strong, the key in your hand,
nothing wrong with your pretended end.
Walking on, walking fast, the alley along.
Into the shadow you take a walk,
into the the shadow, into the dark.
The shape of twighlight people,
standing side by side.
The key just like a needle,
you are holding tight.
Passing the alley faste...

Grotesque decadence
A small piece I wrote while sitting by the river today, I actually hand wrote about 5 of these and left them at all the surrounding buildings haha !

A cinematic silhouette

Dip there feet and feast on what the fishermen left, Rotten...

Nena The Cat
“Nena the Cat”
I love my baby Nena the cat
If she spoke like you she'd tell you that
Sometimes she'll stretch on the patio then lay out flat
As her deep green eyes I'm looking at
Also she'll meow like we're having a chat
Till I bring her some food and give her a pat
I'm glad I rescued her from the place she was at
When those pretty green eyes say“I love ...

Do you
Do you have colour in your cheeks?
Do you go to sleep remembering what you seek?
Do you recall what it was like to be corporeal,
or does it not feel like that at all?
Do you wake to find your pillow wet at night?
Do you see the wolves congregating under moonlight,
and howl at your own stupidity for staying inside?
Do you stare at the files on your desk each weekday
listless...

Dog
Paws and snouts and whiskers and drool
And muscle and fur and eyes so sharp, kind and cruel
And light and strong and high in their jump
And eager and always hungry and always looking for more
And sleek and shiny and fast and then still
And smelling and sniffing and pushing and tearing
Playful and wanting and watching and rolling
And laying and nestling and warm and smelly

THE BALLAD OF THE BALD HEDGEHOG
Have you ever heard the tale
about the hedgehog with no spikes,
such a sweet little boy
who all the other’s didn’t like?
A case of alopecia,
there was nothing they could do,
such a sad little hedgehog
who cried and cried, “Boo-Hoo”.
But soon the lad grew older,
he wanted to look more lush
so onto his back he tied himself
a little scrubbing brush.
His friends, well they just laugh...

WOODLAND WONDER
WOODLAND WONDER
Gently caressed by the breath of the breeze,
branches sway atop tall lofty trees.
Restless leaves, to gnarled fingers, cling
wondering what freshness the new day will bring.
Hopping about on long leafy arms,
fluttering feathers displaying delicate charms.
Beautiful songbirds sing out their sweet melodies
in the grand performance of natures sweet harmony.
Bushy tailed...

The Faol's Tale of Forsaken Love
Leader of his own pack,
A high slope, only to his lonesome self,
Lost connection toward the skys tired eyes,
Ears tucked in deepening sulk.
He'd given up on prey's prayful ease,
Wrapped in dolefuls constructed salute,
As if every pelt surrounded him in scorn,
Soon forgotten travail, a yelp inflicted his oiled mood.
Cascading into his perception, he had seen a limb...

Hell From Leather
It's hell from leather for the animal within,
And fur is no fun if it was ripped from your back,
Just where is the dignity, can't you cut me some slack?
Once we ran free through trees and through bush,
Once we knew the breeze and the grass so very lush,
Then came mankind to fence us in and make us eat slop,
Why do they call man kind when he wants us for the chop?

Animals
The Fury
Pitiful the morsels for the feeding of the rats,
Dished out unemotionally by vicious little cats,
Like vermin, out the rats they come and scurry back to hide,
Whilst all the while the fat cats feast voraciously outside.
The Persecuted
In the darkest corners of the high walled city streets,
The rank and rotten souls of human waste claw to compete,
Shuffling through th...

Homeless Fly
I'm a homeless fly
destined to die
destitute on the sidewalk.
No cakes for me on the kitchen side,
no conspiring against humans with my bride.
Left jilted by the absence of bathroom jihad.
Everyone speaks of the house fly,
they speak of it as a pest.
But all I have is a piss-stained alleyway
to truly call my nest.
I subsist on sic...

McCoy is a boy,
he doesn't annoy
as he is my pet.
Let's have a bet
he is not fat.
He looks so stout
without any doubt
because of his hair,
it looks so fair,
it's white like snow,
it quickly grow
for me to make a pillow.
I love him so much;
his gentle touch
makes me smile,
it's just his style
to ask for a walk.
