He didn't care that I'm hopeless cause
I guess he could say he felt mutual
Something drew us together
Something more than usual
We both lived reckless lives in a cold world
Atleast we can both say we got the two of us
Not sure what love truly is
im not even loving my own life to sober up
He tells me that I help ease the pain
even though the drugs make us numb enough
Wishing the high c...

To Define a Thing

entry picture

He broke her spirit when he declared

He didn’t even know what love is.

She had only asked a simple question

As she planned her own future.

Whilst he resisted closing his options,

He never noticed how open hers were.

She awaited his answer as her suitors

Sat on the sidelines biding their time.

He pretended he didn’t understand

The comfort of constant companionship

Apology

i can’t think of any other words

i’m sorry

you’re the puzzle piece

that didn’t fit

and i bent your corners

and snipped off where you stuck out

and although the puzzle started looking pretty

to me

you suffered and

it was so obvious but

i was so stubborn ‘cause

i wanted it to look perfect but

you didn't belong

and i'm not sure if this means much

but

First Snow

I’m disappointed and surprised
you turned the block and hit my eyes
ugh, the first snow in New York
it’s barely fall and now I’m cold
I wanted you gone so I wouldn’t fold

through the panic I bundle up
I’ve got to focus or we’ll be stuck
I can’t believe it’s fucking you
gliding towards me heart beats steadily
dangling hair, your own kind of weaponry

if you come any closer
soon we’ll be s...

The better hand eventually turns

I never made it as the number one
Every time it hits me, I sing this song
Helps remind me I'm not the only one
That you would happily, see gone

I tried to tell myself that I'm mistaken
Surely this should be, my newfound haven
Instead I feel like I'm locked down in your basement
Living on time that's already over-spent

You can't say you never knew that
I saw you as gold, 14 carat

A Moment | A Poem by Guy Farmer

She says it again.

Silence.

Uncomfortable rustling.

All the things that

Haven't been dealt with

Exposed.

A moment of hope,

Something different,

Lost to fear.

Learning From Our Lass

I've been trying since I got released
I want to start anew
but it's impossible to get a job
when I can't secure an interview
they're gossiping down the bookies
and in the local boozer
they're saying I'm no kind of man
that I'm only out to use her
they're saying that I'm work-shy
'cause I stay at home all day
while she's out working two jobs
struggling by on minimum pay
I admit I've got...

Face Life the Real Way (Poem)

He came into this life,

With atrocities of every kind,

As all he wanted was a life

Free of trouble

And heartache.

As he was looking for freedom,

And inner peace,

He was bound by beatings,

inferiority

And abuse.

He then reverted to alcohol,

All day and all night,

As he was looking for stillness,

...

Big Yellow Taxis

Big Yellow Taxi

leather smells

soft skin

water repellant

I sink in

off we go

the television

leads the way

it’s OK

I am safe

wrapped

in my big

yellow couch.

Needy for Love (Poem)

Stacey was a kind hearted soul,

Wanting to make her mark in the world.

Happy and seemingly carefree,

Perky and everyone adored her.

Though she was upbeat at first,

She craved attention

And affection,

So much that it became her only obsession.

Her dad was a drunk,

Would get home from work,

Drink all night long.

I’m Not Your Zebra

I’m not your zebra.

I don’t want you to chase me

to show your devotion.

I’m not your lioness.

You don’t need to pursue me

across the plains

to demonstrate your loyalty.

You don’t need to dominate me

to prove your masculinity.

I don’t need you to need me.

I’m not your source,

I’m not your mother,

I’m not your bitch.

You don’t need to chip, chip

chip away, ...

Last Night

…(gemma)...Gemma…

“Gemma!”  She snapped into consciousness, only partly.  Her head was pounding and her fingers felt swollen.

“What time is it?” she murmured.  Her eyelids remained heavy still, but they opened wide enough to notice the thin rays of light streaming through the dorm room’s blinds.  Gemma shifted her body to face Alex.  He looked almost as groggy as s...

Standing

Where do I stand in your life

is it beside you

or is it out of sight

if I walk away

will you be the one

to come get me that day

I might be leaving and won’t come back

so don’t realize you want me

when my heart has already turned black

I wish it was easy to say

but am I where I stand

like the other day?

Escaping the darkness

She has dark days and dark nights, and bright days and starry skies. He was diluting the darkness into brightness. But then he became annoyed at her darkness and started to see it all the time even when it wasn’t there. He would poke and prod for it, he was finding boxes of darkness that didn’t exist until he started creating them and suddenly she had more to carry than she realised. He was shouti...

Driving Through Cromwell Hill Road

A house is built from bricks and glued
Together to create shelter renewed
A skeleton protecting organs hidden inside,
Waiting for a family to live and reside
Seasons pass and storms blow by
Damage accrues despite how hard it tries
To keep flawless and perfect, societies dream
From beauty to beast, becomes unseen
"I am ugly, marred, broken- why bother trying?"
My purpose is futile, my fut...

Dead Wood

Dead wood, no good.

Get rid of the dead

wood that won’t burn

like wet yew branches.

People are dead wood,

like soul callouses.

They cling to you,

bring only judgement.

Spouting forth sin,

or their own piss;

its all the same

when you don’t drink it.

They call you wrong,

say you are useless,

no use for burning.

I smack the dead wood

out of my life,

...
