Jeannette Polski on On A Day That Is Rare The Past Claimed Itself As The Present (3 minutes ago)
I caught a star
With my burning fist
And left my handprint on it
I crash-landed on the clouds
I bounced back
Bounced back I
Shot a star with my mouth
I juggled Pluto
I breathed on Neptune
I grew a farm on Saturn
I named all the planets that
I was first to visit
Pierced them with flags of my face
Stamped them with my fingerprints
I was the fi...

My insides writhe like pit of snakes
As my mind runs away.
It flees from my mistakes,
Made with good intent,
As fast as my ambition got me there.
Why does my ego tote me around like a child?
Why does it feel like I'm always being punished
By my mundane thoughts?
What am I doing?
I eat the snake.
I abandon my ambition.
I punish myself from now on.

(with apologies to Lewis Carroll)
‘Twas Brexit, and the slithy Gove
did frottercrutch in dwarfish glee;
he snicker-snacked the Camerove,
Beware the stabberjock, my son!
The empty eyes, the robo-glint!
who fellobrates the Murdocrone
the Ruperturtle übergimp!
He pallerised the BoJo cloon
they chummed upon their sunderbus
emblazoned it with fibberoons

Endurance is salvation’s gift,
To help your inner spirits lift,
Don’t let fear blockade the door,
Have the ambition to explore,
Defeat is something to toughen your skin,
Keep on fighting and you will win,
To overcome with great speed,
Neptune’s fury you shall need,
With power and dominance in the mix,
Let temperance hold your mortal wish,

I’m going to the top of the hill
And by hook or by crook
I’ll get there,
It’s sunny at the top of the hill
With sun beds and free beer
And friendly people
When I get there
I’ll relax for a while
And contemplate my climb.
Now I’ve reached the summit
Things can never be the same
And I can only go downhill

The morning, crisp and broken by the curfew
Of rising larks and pigeons in the choir,
Its breaching sun is bursting through the grass dew
And thinning out the misty dawn's perspire.
Many rest upon their linen sheets around
And you, the only currently arise,
Solo is your ally when breaking the ground;
Undistracted, undisturbed - your alibis.
Your muscles twitch uncertain of their purpose,
Or whether purpo...

Almost drowned in it
Just you name it
I’ll have tried
Been traumatised by it
Reduced to tears by it
Laughed and cried
Wished I hadn’t bothered s...

18 months experience in:
filing, stacking and procrastination.
Got all the skills you need
to capture your attention.
I' ve made a million cups of tea
and then watched it, undrunk, swirl down the plughole
with a gurgle it was gone,
Like my ambition.
£250 a week
to sit and chat,
wonder what to do at the weekend,
Wondering, where's the party at?
Finally five o'clo...
