Peripathetic
Planning away, sometimes all day
Words on a page, moulding like clay
Toward your interest, "I'll engage" you say
I should of known it would go this way
Travelled around all week through
Sometimes I'm spinning and I don't see you
Learnng the lines of a script I have written
Walking the mile but somewhere you're hidden
Delivering is easy when you've got the tools

Lady Lolly’s late
I see her every morning
And she runs without warning
In her arms is her lollypop
and no one dares ask her to stop
She's running for good reason
As it's definitely the season
To run with the tide
But for her, there's definitely nowhere to hide
She's running late 'tis lady lolly
Amongst the herd is our Polly
The stream of kids is never ending
But it's her b...

You’ll benefit from better care provided by our NHS thanks to the re-allocation of funds from the EU budget.

Teacher
Today I sit here in my car, trying to hold back tears, trying to stay strong
A teacher....
Teach your students colors, shapes, letters, numbers, teach them about life, and now keep them safe from guns
Today I sit here in my car, trying to hold back tears, trying to stay strong, remember you are a teacher
Teach your students to not be afraid, yet in your heart you know the world is again...

WHERE IS THE MAGIC? - ALEXIS KARPOUZOS
Where is the magic?
We all start out knowing magic.
We are born with hurricanes and whirlwinds,
oceans and galaxies inside us.
We are able to sing to birds and read the clouds
and see the destiny in grains of sand.
But we have forgotten the magic
and we feel without compass, alone and desperately,
only selfishness, only pain, fear and darkness.
But, magic of love has nev...

On the Destructive Power of Measureable Learning Objectives
Day 8 of NaPoWriMo asks us to write poetry using the jargon of our professions (or someone else’s profession). As a philosophy instructor, my only learning objective was to destroy the smug and self-satisfied confidence my students had in their own knowledge. Petty of me, I know.
On the Destructive Power of Measureable Learning Objectives
Your destruction is both
Achievable and measurable

CONFIDENCE
If you learn from the past
Improving your future
Then you'll achieve the goal
And reach it safely faster
Pay an attention to move
Know the direction to go
Have time to Improve
Act well, not only "show"
Earn your people' regard
And don't cross the fence
Know the value of the word
Now you've got confidence

PRECIOUS PARENTS
From A to Z,
And from zero to infinity.
You feed me with education everyday.
Holding my hands,
You guide me to get my hands,
On my handwriting copy tracks.
Singing the rhymes together,
I start to open my mouth
With you, Teacher.
By your class and homeworks,
And checking them with red pen.
You edited my mistakes.
Your stick and sit-ups,
I loathe, but...

Education 'Wild West'
When did learning become a contest
Schools become a fighting ground
Where those that don't fit in
Are no longer to be found?
Excluded and forgotten children
Left in their bedroom corner curled
Tired and frightened and angry
In our ever more competitive world.
Our sense of 'moral accountability'
Has been thrown out with the bath water
Tossed into another huge...

Season of Tests...
A little poem for all the teachers out there...
Season of Tests
Season of tests and sallow fruitlessness,
Pacing the aisles of shuffling fidget minds
Tapping pens and flicking rulers and the mess
Of scrunched up paper, shavings and the rinds,
Satsumas curling, yellowing skins up turned,
Ink stained fingers, mucky finger nails,
The slow stumble of old ideas new learned.

Open
Open
Openness, in a time of terror,
It's not easy is it?
News story after sensationalised
News story,
With just one aim-
To drag us in,
Scare us witless,
Send us down,
Stop our daughters from going out,
Just what they wanted, perhaps,
Cancel that trip of fun planned,
Throw blame at misinformation,
I'm talking to everyone,
Holding their nearest and Dearest,
That little bit clos...

Education
Boredom slowly creeps upon me,
Like a fog on top a hill.
My eyes start glazing over,
My brain is standing still.
I’m trying to take notice,
Of the message being said,
But it all just sounds like noise to me,
Facts won’t stay in my head.
If only I could listen,
For just a minute more,
Yet concentration eludes me,
I’m thinking of the door.
I can see the mouth is m...

A lesson that I Taught
A LESSON THAT I TAUGHT
I Teach!!
I taught...
Here's a lesson that I taught...
I had this lesson. It were ace in my mind!
The planning was tight, concise, well timed
Going into the room - my stage
Put on the teacher face, the act
(My phone is buzzing but I don't react)
Lights, camera, action! You're on!
"Hi guys! Come in, unpack your things!"
But...

Access weekend
iPod plugged, young Victor’s
muttered not a word since my divorce.
Grace is up front. She carps,
“Dad, why d’you drive this Chelsea Tractor?”
Thinks she’s going to save the world of course
since reading a bit of ecology for GCSE.
I hang a left and bark,
“You think I never cared? You’ll see!”
My big Land Cruiser cruises
country lanes through blizzards of thistle-down.
The car-...

EDUCATION
I could not listen to them
pay attention where needed
but watched in fascination for sound
for that loud tie
that leather cuff
facial ticks
blackboard tricks
all done under scratched deplored hair.
Then doors set me free
to live my own life with the frightful
scamperings of the herd
unfathomed uncaring
a primal scream
an urban dream.

The Eleven-Plus
Football over, mown grass,
heady scent. School photo,
earnest expressions
squinting into sun.
Yearning, inexplicable,
unspoken crush
on a blonde-haired girl
with snub nose and pudgy face.
Winners and losers.
Another girl, dark-haired,
stared moodily after me,
had I but known.
Dusty sang I Just Don’t Know
What To Do With Myself.

That's so gay
When we think about the freedoms
our ancestors thought for,
the cracking of the great enigma.
Futile hopes soaked in apple-core tears
crashing like a faulty application.
Remember, that's so gay.
When you websling like Spidey
page to page.
From songs on YouTube,
to memes about Derp...
remember his hurt.
Remember, that's so gay.

To Unknow is to Dream
Hey friends
My latest entry was inspired by a debate I had with some friends recently. The basic principle of this was the theory that you would be happier uneducated than if you knew everything. The theory that Ignorance is bliss.
So enjoy the poem and if you would like to comment your thoughts on the subject then please do.
To Unknow is to dream

Do you have to dress smart to make wise?
Do you have to dress smart to make wise?
Can you better teach art wearing ties?
Aren’t there so many places
More suited to airs and graces
Than one which education supplies?
Can we make divergent thinking the norm
Whilst we’re all being forced to conform
To what seems to me an antiquated fashion
Amputated of utility and passion?
A retrograde ste...
