Procrastination
my partner says
I can’t write anymore poetry.
until I take out the bins
complete that assignment
(for which I’m paying thousands for the privilege)
and preferably have a shower
not out loud
but I hear it in his sighs
and the way he closes the cupboard doors

Hand Count
Hand Count
Sixty times a minute
I have travelled round this face
Three thousand six hundred times an hour
I have faithfully kept pace
Eighty six thousand four hundred times a day
I’ve ticked along
Six hundred and four thousand eight hundred times a week
Always right and never wrong
Eighteen million one hundred and forty four thousands times an average month
Relen...

Fandango
A magenta sky
greets my morning sigh.
Another majestic day,
lost in the minutia of life.
Shoulda, coulda,woulda,
paralyzing dream sabers.
Distractions abound.
Download another book,
refresh the poet's page.
Escape, behind a waterfall
of tears.
Long nights,
paved years.
Fandango memories
sustain me.
Resilience
prevails.
Dry your eyes,
face your fears.

Creativity Costs
You are enough.
Insecurity or
grandiose confidence
isn’t necessary.
Doubt, distraction,
procrastination, fear,
impostor syndrome,
borderline lunacy...
are costs of the
creative process.
Keep creating
through it all.
But, then again,
what do I know.

Third Eye Blind
Mind spinning faster than a cyclone.
Do this, do that ad infinitum.
Worry about things beyond my control
until the scowl line blinds my third eye.
Waste life surfing the net,
following every link that promises to take me higher,
faster, farther than the languid loop of my existence.
Why does it never seem enough?
I long to escape the stoic-ease,
walk hand-in-hand among redwood t...

Procrastinator's Perplexity
What happened to tomorrow
It was here yesterday
Did it somehow just decide
To get up and go away?
Tomorrow was the day I planned
To do all I had to do
Now that it isn't coming
I'm left with out a clue,
As to when I will do these things
I'll have to check the date
If tomorrow isn't coming
Then I'm already late...

Slow Train to Freedom
Slow Train to Freedom
Have you ever had the feeling, late one night,
that you're pounding down an ever-narrowing path
without the strength to either flee or fight?
Your feet touch with fear this wanton, ferocious earth,
but the stars reflected in your teal-blue eyes
are the brazier-fires of a homeless hearth.
Then a slow train, velvet-clad under coated skies,
pass...

Ballad of a Procrastinator
I want to do it
But I don’t do it.
I hope to do it,
I know I won’t do it.
My life of procrastination,
Is believed to be an abomination,
By those involved in my creation.
I will never get spiritual emancipation.
This life of procrastination,
Although kills the time I have,
Has enabled my imagination,
To come out of dingy cave.
I think to do it,
...

The Devil On My Right Shoulder
The Devil On My Right Shoulder
it might be snowing outside
if I could be bothered
a girl with red lipstick
could be kissing my cheek
the sky could be filled
with ants on the wing
silver fish
darting in foam
at the foot of a black mountain
we could be counting stars
riding a Ferris wheel
licking sweat
from thighs of gold
the days could last
for week...
