Close to the fire

I'm on the edge of myself,
where skin is not enough
and desire spreads
like a nameless flame.

On your body - a mirror of absence -
I search for myself:
a burning instant
between now and nevermore.

The flesh longs for verb,
but all is silence
when I touch you with my soul.

I am a lit shadow,
I am a blind word,
wanting you
where you no longer are.

And in the dark of the room
...

Ephemeral Essence

O you, ethereal presence who comes when the light fades
With misty gaze and voice like a murmur of twilight
Do not depart yet - I beg you, remain -
For every moment with you exhales a divine essence

The night, that lady of infinite veils
Has not yet whispered her final requiem
And my heart, captive and distressed
Struggles in longing, in an abyssal cry

Stay, sweet shadow clothed in fle...

Resistance

I walked, the road was only mine
And the weight of the world beat on my flesh
The pain was only the shadow of what I am not
Yet still, I went

Life dragged me, with no questions, no answers
It was a thread in the wind, it was a nameless gesture
The strength I seek does not come from the hands
It comes from the abyss that dwells in the chest
It comes from the void that fills and consumes

The Divan

I look at myself, and see the abyss
In the mirror, where time slips away
And the cruel emptiness takes me whole
Like a distant echo that life betrays

What is pain, if not a flame
That burns without being explained?
It is a torment that is not mine
But invades me, devours me under the moonlight

The divan calls me, but what is the divan
If not a well, where the soul is lost
In words th...

Hides

under sun she soaks rays

ultra violet for an old skin,

back's bare, bronzed sad,

ancient the state we're in

young flesh moves nearby

brash rampant limbs shout:

hey! we can do this forever

our bodies know no doubt

we were just like that once

where did all our years go?

why do we lean or shuffle?

is it her, moving so slow?

the white mane annoys me

Lost and Found

Let me help you flip the switch
Scratch that itch
that’s been burning
For some time we’ve been yearning
for each other
Under the moonlight
we reach for a lover
that’s been like no other

I’ve longed to hold you,
to have you close to me
to feel you envelop me
to have our hands intertwine
to graze my fingers across your body and across your lips
to rest my hand on your cheek
to loo...

The flesh and the spirit(By Anne Brandstreet)/ስጋና መንፈስ/Translation/By Alem Hailu

In secret place where once I stood
Close by the Banks of Lacrim flood,
I heard two sisters reason on
Things that are past and things to come.
One Flesh was call'd, who had her eye
On worldly wealth and vanity;
The other Spirit, who did rear
Her thoughts unto a higher sphere.

"Sister," quoth Flesh, "what l...

Epiphany

A black pen, a worm chewing through

wood, waiting for flesh.

Crunching its way through shadow.

Candle wax on skin

setting hard in its way.

A flick of the wrist

and the ink scratch stains.

Trying to find a way

to communicate with vision.

Spew out, eat up, digest, reset.

Calculating the way with mind

set to epip...
