A lovely reminder that there is still the realisation that great pleasure can be obtained in the simple signs of nature. Here, in the UK, there are those who make it their business to cultivate the boundaries and
roundabouts of roads so that they become floral displays to soften
the hard concrete traffic-laden landscape they adorn so splendidly.

America has a federal and a state system - with local mayors able
to exercise powers in their cities and towns. During the 1918/19
Spanish flu pandemic, the mayor of Philadelphia opted not to
take measures that the mayor of another city took. Result - the death toll in the first mentioned city was many times greater than in the latter.
Reality check - the UK death toll was reported to be 228,000 as a
result of that pandemic and the worldwide figure assessed at around 50 million; some say more due to political/military restrictions on
reporting its effects across the world.

Hi Jennifer, fractal can mens anything that contains the whole in eqch piece of data. Mandelbrots etc...if anything its the opposite of the end because the holofractal nature of reality suggests infinity. Thank you for the comment I really do appreciate it

A highly charged and powerfully yet constrained account, beautifully read and gives us pause for considered thought. The alteration from mortal to moral and back to mortal brings another layer to the poem, and it's so well constructed that nothing is wasted. It comes to life and never runs out of essence, the sign of a good poem in my opinion.
Easily the best on here I've read in a long time David.

po Observing advise. Luckyily I live close to the Leeds/Liverpool canal and open countryside. The paths are deserted. Walking in this enviornment is as safe as it can be.
All are safe here. Hope you and yours are all in rude health.

A stirring tale, Sophie, very well told. And a proud family story, too. We don't often get such long poems on Write Out Loud. But this account demanded it. As MC says, epic!

An epic account of an epic event that deserves its place in song
along with the well known saga of "Uncle Tom Cobley".

A time of concern for all and tragedy for some that we hope will
end soon - with all the forces of modern science and medical
application at humanity's disposal in the fight back. Onwards and

I've lived in places like this as a sprog back in 1950s rural Wiltshire.
One bedroom was on the ground floor beyond what was called the
scullery in those days, with the rear door to the property - an old
cottage on the edge of a large isolated country estate - a few feet away down the passage. My parents slept on the upper floor which
required navigation through the scullery, kitchen, hall, (past the living
room) and up a long flight of stairs, Another bedroom was on the
upper floor of another old cottage: the first of three connected rooms
(access via stairs at either end) with my parents occupying the most
distant room from my own.. Creaky stairs and bumps in the night?
Tell me about it!!

Thalia says she's here to help us all get through. She's sorry she can't present herself on the screen here for you but says she's here in spirit.
WOL techs will allow her to display herself in blogs but not in comments. Why's that Don she asks? I've got no answer.......

I believe now more than any other time we need to grasp the reality of reaching out to others in what ever way we can despite this pandemic and realise we are not what we haven't got or cannot do but the reverse.
Thanks for reading guys

I woke up with one last night, Phil. Applied some Vick, put on a T-shirt, and went back to sleep. This poor guy was in his late 50s, retired as a paramedic last year, and was looking forward to moving to a new home in Dorset. It always seems to be bright in the morning, and then cloud over after lunchtime. Have you noticed that? Thanks for reading.

Thanks Don. Not sure what is happening with audio here. I uploaded an audio file for this and other poems of mine but can't seem to play them anymore. I tried playing audio on another users blog and couldn't hear that either. I hope they sort it out soon. I always enjoy listening to audio uploads here.
