endless openings (especially in competitions) to "young poets".
This slightly mischievous blog is my response.

Thankyou Mae

I have been told never, ever, consummate a relationship with your muse. Hanky-panky in the ether? Not sure how this works?

Rule 4: Never ever, not once, consummate your relationship with your muse

So if you find yourself tempted by your muse think of the following:

• Meditate on the futility of wasting precious hours cavorting with your muse when you could be writing, painting or sculpting

• Ponder that that your creativity will become enslaved to urges like ‘wanting to make the relationship work’

• Think about what your muse might write on social media.

No worries. I will not fall into temptation. Don't even try Thalia.

Oh. by the way Mae, Thalia says 'hi'........

John,

On a first reading I felt plunged into the eye of a storm with all its pertinent elements thrashing about and then having read it again I felt the inner storm and its destabilising effect on mind and soul. The words, "Grasp these perceptions, cling to the day" speak out as an anchor of stability. I shall read it again later but thank you for this.

Thank you to all who have so knidly commented on this poem. Don is right in what he has to say. This poem is not about my personal grief although it could have been. In fact it refers to my next door neighbour whose wife of 54 years died very recently and whose funeral is this afternoon. I have been in daily contact with him as he is struggling with loss and grief. Fortunately he has children and grandchildren who are very supportive. His wife was a remarkable lady with a finely tuned intellect and an example to her family and all who came into contact with her.

Thank you again
Keith

Not sure about the MMT one. You'll have to ask Philipos about this.
I believe the Muse trip went well. He might be in the throes of whipping up a magical one. Keeping it a mystery I hear....Or as they say in the industry 'keeping it under wraps'

This may reveal how I met Thalia when on the bus tour here. I'm sure Thale and Philopos won't mind....

I believe all men over the age of 40 need to stay away from the much younger crowds. .
They really need a woman who knows the signs of a possible stroke ???

No good having your money taking for sweets and nights out with there pals, while there is a chance of them making fun of you when you make that funny face ???

Ooppps: bet they wish they kept there wife ..

Great poem. Resonates so well as I'm sure it will with many.
As I see it ' if a man can be swept away so easylie by another: he was never going to stay for long. And she did you a favour by taking out the trash for you.
A real man can not be stolen.
You had a lucky escape and your pain will help you grow in ways you never ever thought was possible.
Do not bass your worth on the actions of another. For you are worthy of much more than he could ever offer.
Your amazing ❤❤

You captured the crazy hustle and bustle of flying ?
The ignorance of many can make the journey awful and yet there is the odd person who will talk for hours about there life and leave you with new perspective.
Flying thought me patience ?
And to escape from life for a holiday you gotta pay the price. Sore toes ' cramped legs and the worrie of not receiving your luggage. Sure who needs belongings anyway ?
I really enjoyed this. Great job ❤

Today I am unafraid and will be open to all the lucky possibilitys.
On my way to drop kids of at school I will step on every crack ' then invite the neighbours black cat inside for some refreshments ??
A day for utter grattitude i say ❤❤

Keith,
I agree with Don, it is a beautiful poem. It makes me think of my mom's passing and how my dad is coping.
And yes, we do tend to write about our experiences, whether true to life or observed.
It is sometimes a healing process as was just discussed with Vautaw's Interpretive Dance. Sometimes just for fun or to vent or to tell a story. One can never assume, only ponder.
Thanks Keith, this is a real gem.

This is just a general observation and I am not seeking to know who Keith is writing about.

A poet writes about experiences. They can be referring to themselves, someone else or a collective group. One doesn't know unless the writer specifies they are writing about themselves. It is their right to say or not to say.

I recently assumed a writer was sending out a cry for help and sympathy, which I gave. They explained, no, they were fine but just raising awareness of a problem.

So, what am I trying to say? You can't assume the poem is about the writer unless they say so. And it is their right to decide.

So whoever it is about Keith, it is a good poem. It's more than good but I can't think of the right word.....

Like a number of things met in this life, it's not always the product
itself that's harmful or threatening but its use and misuse. How easy
it is to identify with the feelings of wonder that must have greeted the
advent of plastic with its labour-saving convenience and wide-ranging potential.
