Quite a weighty piece with a fine moral interplay going on, almost like a stalemate. Very robust and persuasive, as I believe is part of your character that likes to engage in such issues as you sympathetically draw out.
I like to see your work on the page Greg!

I feel your mother's pain. It is such a helpless feeling to watch your loved ones suffer through addiction's choke hold on their soul. So glad you made survived the storm and are sharing your poetry to help others on their journey back to life. ?

Taking to the outdoors can provide eye-opening events that don't
cost a thing yet are beyond any attempt at valuation. I remember
occasions when walking across Scotland - coast to coast: one
when caught on an exposed hillside as a storm rolled in, bringing
with it primeval trepidation and a sense of sheer human vulnerability
in the face of an approaching uncaring force of nature. Descent
was quick as the air began to hum and crackle!

Fact-flavoured and funny - an irresistible combination.
I'm already in my dotage and can testify to some of the content.
But the pleasure of a solitary physical existence comes from not
having to suffer constant reminders from the company of others
who visibly display the signs and symptoms you can ignore in
yourself ! ?

Perfect! It's a shame can't even have a good conversation about life or love with out sex being involved, I would say its more of a turn off now, because it seems like that's all people want nowadays.

Some good ideas in your sample piece you've shared. Perhaps you could shorten it as its maybe a bit long for my own personal tastes, but I did enjoy it. Welcome to Write Out Loud btw. I suspect this would go down well live if you ever chose to perform it. I co run one night in Manchester and I could see it going down well must admit, but anyway.. keep sharing

Hi Jennifer. This was just a rare one for me now, inspired by seeing a paraplegic lady in a wheelchair being pushed by one who was so resolutely happy and chatty. Thanks for enjoying the spirit of it, and of course a happy new year to you.

Hi Kieth - an interesting read. Maybe of no consequence but maybe meaning in there that would minister to you personally? It is always worth spending at least a few minutes trying to understand our dreams. Some people though over do it and think every dream has some deep, important meaning - not so.
Go well

This speaks strongly of great anguish. Writing about it is only good. Perhaps the very act of expression will separate the 'must' from the 'want to' from 'the should'. It occurred to me that 'medical facts' might be the issue. Just a thought.

The line that struck me the most was “Much more dangerous are the common men and women” - many don’t feel their individual actions matter, but in the collective they do.

Wow John, you always take poetry to the next level with your insights. I have never heard Matilda or Tom Waits before. What a treat. Better than a box of chocolates and bouquet of flowers! His voice is mesmerizing. He personifies blood and whiskey. Thank you! There is only one thing that moves me as much as poetry and that is music. It’s so cool to discover poets and musicians who have been there all along. I’m headed down the rabbit hole with Alice now!

Hmm, I can't speak for anyone else but I only comment on a poem when I feel compelled to. Only a few poems tick 'that box' in my head so that I have to say something - it just so happens that somehow you manage this feat at least every other day and it continues to be a pleasant surprise to me. Please don't stop. ? P.S. Thank you D!

Hi Cynthia, it was very nice to read your comment about my profile. I have been off the site lately, but you teased me out again. EFIT is the method of getting likenesses for crime identification shown to witnesses etc. which replaced PHOTOFIT consisting of lots of pieces of a face overlaid based on their description. I think that was an older method pre digital age. In my case I used it as an illustration of conforming to expectations . I hope that is a help!
I hope you're well.
Regards, Ray
