Absolutely Mark...music has the ability to lift spirits. Obviously different types of music works for different people but the principle is the same. Then there are the stirring tunes used on the battlefield, and at sporting events etc. All designed for motivation.

As soon as I've done the tea I'm going to sit down and read everyone else's works, including yours. I never realised before how much I needed poetry in my life!

Oh thank you so much! I find it easier to write about the more harrowing side of life than I do to write about the flowery stuff. I'm not great at creating pictures in my mind, so just draw on raw emotions and experiences.
I'm just really happy that I've found this place! I think poetry might be my new love.

Thanks again

Oh thank you so much! I was rather nervous of posting to be honest, it's a new thing for me, writing.
I've only written a few to date, and have just uploaded my six favourites. I hope you enjoy them. Unfortunately , my subject matter is almost always quite disturbing! LOL.

And now I've uploaded my stuff, I'm going to take a look at other people's work.

I can well imagine this being performed in "socialist" clubs in
certain parts of the UK under the alternative title "Dem Disillusion
Blues". ?
I'm intrigued by the use of austerity as a stick with which to beat
the Tories. Logic - certainly of the political/vote sort - would seem
to dictate that NO political party seeking easy votes would actively
advocate, let alone inflict hardship on the population that can put it
- or keep it in power....unless (fill in the gaps!)..

I should perhaps warn you... the Blog posts thingy on this site only show the most recent poem you posted that day (as far as I can tell). So if you post a few poems in a single day, only your most recent one appears in the feed. Just warning you as some incredible work could go unnoticed. Thanks Tom

Thousand of sheep and cattle are having to be put down. Some are running out of ammunition. Thousands of dead animals line the roads in their attempt to escape. The island has lost half its koala population.

A disaster zone. Heartbreaking. And they say more scorching weather is on its way.....

Thanks Po, I learned a long time ago that we all have no intrinsic, built in rights just because we're human. We only ever have rights by agreement, and God knows I hope we continue to agree on those rights, but honestly, if I hear one more fluffball say they're triggered. I mean F.F.S toughen up, the world can be a harsh, unforgiving place, if they want to learn some shit, eventually they have to be brave enough to listen fearlessly and debate the things that are wrong.

I had the original idea for this probably 2 months ago. and have done bits, then come back to it ever since.

when I started I thought I knew where I was going, then the last line popped into my head.

what I found hardest was making it into a poem, not just a story that rhymed.

Cheers Kevin

some interesting points Po.
Graham - your 'cosmology' appears to be 'if it's not affecting me it isn't happening' and 'if those complaining affect me they are a bigger issue than the problem'.
When you say 'we' will all be long gone before the planet burns up - you really mean 'you' will be. 500 million animals already dead in Australian fires + untold human tragedies, loss of life, injuries, property damage - but 'hey-ho, it's not happening in the leafy suburbs so no need for me to do 'owt and sod the buggers who raise the issue'
I'm enjoying the debate - but some of your arguments are beyond risible.

Bless you Don for the video of the man himself - and that familiar
record label accompanying those dancers cutting the rug in such
fine style! But then I spent most of the afternoon (Sunday here in the
UK) going down memory lane watching and listening to so many
other performers and songs from those days...so easy to forget
just how much has stood the test of time - as enjoyable (to me anyway) now as it was then.

Climate change is not inevitable - it only becomes so when narrow minded denial 'activists' tell us it is so .

I should read up on your cosmology Ian. We’ll all be long gone before this planet burns up!

However a good start would be reducing the amount of power the so-called ‘cloud storage’ from data centres requires. You won’t hear Climate Rebellion moaning about that, they’re all glued to their phones taking selfies.

I’m not in climate change denial, it’s obviously changing but taking my own bags to Sainsbury’s won’t do a lot of good even though I do!
