Thank you Keith for your comment on the poem world of deception. Anti Christ - Dajjal is the biggest test of faith and belief for believers. We need divine help and powers to stand a chance to win.🌷

Thank you very much for your comments & constant support John, Stephen, Uilleam, Julie & John C. Always appreciated.
Just had the honour of having our reverend read my poem out as part of the memorial tribute for our village. Which got a brilliant turn out. Lest we forget

A powerful piece as ever.
Describing the futility of a war far away yet on our own doorstep.
It seems that there is little we can do to help, and what little we do do seems inadequate.
WOL does it's bit, by giving support and raising awareness.
Thank you for posting.
Cheers Kevin.

Are we not all cast into this frame at some stages in our life. This poem goes deep into the soul of man and bears several readings.
Thank you for this

A poem which speaks the truth in a prophetic manner. We are being deceived by the great deceiver. Your penultimate stanza, particularly the fourth line is so clearly true in today's world. An excellent piece of work which is supported by several Biblical references about the end of the world. I am convinced that we are living in the end times.
Thank you for this

Stephen, well done with this poem. The awful reality of war. It was the same in Berlin in 1945 where most of the animals in the zoo were mercilessly killed in bombing and shelling.
A powerful poem.
Thank you
Keith

Thank you, Graham, for your continued support, which means a great deal to me. The celebrations in Kherson were heartwarming, even though the enemy is still so close and the war is far from over.
Bethany - yes, there is so much fear and repression of ideas. And so much desperation and a complete breakdown of humanity, as your item about the animals shows.
Thanks to Mama Lola and Pete for the likes.

Well done Stephen and thank you for this well written piece.
The answer to the question that Uilleam poses is that it is highly likely to be the case that they ( the Russian civilians ) are all living in fear of the likes of the KGB and Co.
and I have read a news item stating that because of short supplies the Russian soldiers are actually killing the Zoo animals for food,
BASTARDS!

As ever you keep the Ukraine in our thoughts (as if it could be otherwise). Well done.
In the shadows of encouraging news I am amazed how local people celebrate even thought the enemy are only three miles distant.
Astonishing!

Thanks to Uilleam, Julie, John C and John B for the kind comments, and to Bethany and Rudyard for the likes.
Yes, Uilleam, as a lover of Russian music and culture, I find it astonishing that this country can inflict so much brutality on a neighbour. I suppose that dictators, whatever they may claim, care little for such things.
Thanks Julie, John B and John C for your observations and support.

Excellent stuff, JD. Reminded me very much of Kipling's "The 'Eathen".
The young recruit is silly - 'e thinks o' suicide
'E's lost 'is gutter-devil - 'e 'asn't got 'is pride
But day by day they kicks 'im, which 'elps 'im on a bit
Till 'e finds 'isself one mornin' with a full and proper kit.

Graham, thank you for your 'like'. Stephen, thank you as this war troubles me greatly. Uilleam, thank you also for your comment. There are two poems from the Great War which always come to mind at this time of year. Siegfried Sassoon "The Menin Gate" and Rudyard Kipling's "Jack". I enlisted in the Army in 1966 and served for ten years. What I witnessed would make pacifists of most. War is brutal and futile. It scorches the soul.
Thank you all again
Keith
