Your ask to enter LMS
Came to our office Do
Was stamped, duly accepted
Many moons ago
We know you like our roller
Rides around the Park
We're only open in the day
And close it down when dark
I can't see to drive at night and Thalia tends to get her cocktails mixed up without some light.
Yes, I see you behind me,(next to Ruth). You seem to be enjoying yourself. Thanks to Po for taking the picture.

My bit's shrunk over time.....
Eth says it's happened to her Bert too.....
Yes John, I'm only 4ft 6 now. Life wears you down....
These two have a habit of butting in. They're pensioners so we must be a bit gentle on them. We'll be like them one day John/Po.....
Before being butted in by Ethel and Bert I was about to say
My bit has shrunk, it's short
No longer can it rort
It's feeling so deflated
But life it that has tort
You too Don?.....
Careful what you say to your scriptwriter luv?
Who's he Eth?...
Go back to sleep.....
zzzzzzzz......

Thanks for the comments/likes - one and all. This HAS a tune but I seem unable to load it on this particular site.
If anyone is interested, send me your email address to my profile
page OR email me at markone05@live.com and i will try to send it on that way. it has been managed
previously elsewhere. There is a catch between jpeg (etc) files
and wma (etc) files on what I see available on my PC that I have yet to overcome. But then I was brought up in an age that had wind-up
gramophones, steel needles and bakelite discs as state of the art home entertainment!! ?

In this poem I flirted with the idea of rhyming... amongst other things.

I did a bit of rorting
(Sharp practice) when was young
When used on youngish ladies
All I got was stung
I'd advise against rorting (sharp practice type) at our age John. Waste of time. Ladies just not interested.

A “rort”, Don? You’ve taught me a word I didn’t know. Google also says it means to engage in sharp practice in Strine.

To join The Like-Minders Society and experience the thrill of rollercoasting around our Theme Park to stops of various offbeat poetical interest contact our Leader (you may even get to wave to Bert unless his scriptwriter has cured his vertigo)
We are on a recruitment drive so don't be shy. However we don't accept riff-raff or doomy gloomers. We run a tight ship. If, however, you are willing to undergo a 'transformation' our Leader might consider you

I look at presents under tree
Piles of them, and all for me
Why can't they give just one to treasure
Instead of muck to fill my leisure
When I was young I got one present. It was special to me and I treasured it. Today, kids get 20 presents. Plastic, discarded, or broken the next day.

Or so I thought was taught
While panky brings its problems
At wild parties (a rort)
Stick to the hanky at our age John. It's safer...

Thank you Mark. I'd like to wish you a happy Yuletide and New Year. You express so well the dilemma that has afflicted humanity since Homer. You call it a " tragedy yet a blessing - depending on how charitable one felt about the infliction of nature's whims on our fragile minds and bodies." Why do the wicked prosper? Why do the innocent suffer? GM Hopkins in one of his terrible sonnets asks God:
"Why do sinners’ ways prosper? and why must
Disappointment all I endeavour end?" Answer was there none.
