Let me in

I see you

The scars that you hide under that smile,

the struggles that seep through your pores

Even as your strength depletes midair,

like a warrior angel, upon broken wings, you soar

I see you

Your inner battles as they strike at your might,

you beat back the demons that attack

Keeping us safe through the worse of the storm,

never allowing us to peek at the things you lack

I see you

Sholders bent forward, bloody tears you keep hidden,

the shard of your heart that lay at your feet

As a soldier, you bury your emotion deep,

a mask in place to cover when you’re weak

Let me in

I’ll be the balm to heal your mortal wounds

The crutch to hold you up before you fall

I wish to be the light that gives you hope

With your angelic voice, you need only call

Let me in

I wish to join in the fray, not only be protected

Evil will not break us apart and we won’t be swayed

By you, I wish to repair that which has been damaged

and allow the venom of spite to forever fade

Let me in

Know that I wish to wipe those crimson streaks away,

giving you some semblance of lasting peace

So do not hide your shattered heart,

for, as long as I live, it’s beat will never cease
