Thanks for the smile and comic relief in this much too serious time. Who would have ever thought that the world would be hoarding toilet paper?!

I could if I wanted to
write a poem about that photo
the beached boat
the blue water cove
and that lone figure leaning
on the boat as if he stopped to
watch the time go by
or wait for the sunset
i could write a poem about it
but i'll leave that up to you
paint a poem!

Tell you what I'll do Po
I'll send you several rolls
Via Virtual Air that LM use
LMS hey LOL

You then can clean yourself up
Virtually every time
Yep, I'm having great time here
Constructing virtual rhyme

Which travel to your 'puter
In virtual seconds flat
You got those rolls of paper yet?
The cat sat on the mat

He's lost the plot...

I'm tearing my hair out
(It's tattered and torn)
Cos 50 draft poems
All want to be born

pick me...pick me...pick me...pick me...pick me...
pick me...pick me...pick me...pick me...pick me...

X40 more little pick me's....

You know the problem Cynth

I needs get away
Give my mind complete rest
But my neurons won't let me
They're nice, but damn pest

I'm doomed....

'What vulnerability in exposure.

But we don't care.

We risk it.'

So true Cynthia......

Hello Abdul! Thought your comment about Tuscany being my reward for working in Scotland, was really amusing! I do know what you mean! Actually I came out here at 21, having been foolish enough to marry an Italian at that age. I really love living in Italy, in spite of a few negative aspects, and which country doesn't have any? The climate is of course infinitely better with short winters, but lately the summers have been unpleasantly hot. I find India really interesting as a country, and wonder where you or your forbears come/came from?

You are 83 and I am close behind at 72. Our poetry, by virtue of our age and experience, will bring a great deal to this site. Evidently your poetic skills have been laid dormant or hidden for quite some time. Now is the time unleash your talent. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Abdul,

This poem has the ability of being able to take the reader to where these events are unfolding and enter into the emotions involved. A clever piece of writing. The last line of the penultimate stanza refers to so many people in today's world.

Thank you for this
Keith

Hi David, my shoes have finally dried out and now I'm setting sail for other climes...

I've said it on your poems but I'll say it here too; one of my favourite joys of visiting WoL is getting the chance to see the world through your eyes. The way you capture things big and small in your poems is always such a pleasure to read.

Thank you!

The reality is combined with the poetical to fine effect in these lines.
Close by as I write is a photograph of my maternal uncle Ernest
Valentine Venner - in shirtsleeves, hands thrust in the pockets of
riding breeches, gazing steadfastly at the early 20th century camera lens with all the seriousness of youthful military maturity....soon to die
in combat in WW1. He is that reminder that we are all due to die in
one way or another.

Yes Brian, our grits do come in
Various colours, grades
Fine for those with tender bums
All handcrafted made

Rough for outback horsemen
Who have a toughened bum
Their choice is usually jet black
Jet black ho ho hum

In Aus we are so lucky
With oodles of nice grit
To handcraft in all colours, grades
So hand we don't use it

Use only finest sand
Smoothing on the bottom
And better than one's hand

Of course if you are desperate
With no sand close at hand
What else can a poor fella use

Cascading streams always seem to excite the mind - stir the soul - bring nostalgia to one's very eyes - what staggers me is that human water when passed by crew on space craft - has to be recycled because otherwise it is too heavy to carry - Tim Peakes who went up in one told me about it in his book - I'm looking for a volunteer to take up my slot if I am ever invited to go on such a mission in the future. Now where is my glass, I need to swill some tablets, here's to your very good health Don. Blessings P.

Hi D. I echo Po's, and the other responses. If you keep going down the same path you will never end up in a different direction. There is a secret room where exciting poetry is stored. I think it is called the brain, but negativity just sucks and never benefits anybody, not one - and less still the writer. Only you possess the answer to your loss and where to find your compass for a better bearing. No one else can do that for you - and I am only trying to be kind. May your future quests bring happiness unbounded. You can do this if you really try, try, try. But constant negativity kills the soul and daunts your many friends on WriteOutLoud who would want you to be more joyful in these already challenging times. I wish you every success in your quest to find a better path. P. ?
