I like it. Interesting mixture. Perhaps the musings of a homesick man. If it is a deeper observation on values you have to work a bit at what they might be.

Flows well.

Ha! I do tend to write in code sometimes! DTs are what we called detentions at school when you had to stay after school for an hour and clean desks and stuff. NI is national insurance, you get your card at 16 which has your NI number on it so that you can get a job. I just invented 'butty kings', a butty is a sandwich and the people who came in the bakery for one, particularly the men, took great joy in talking down to me as I was serving them.

It's good to go for the big themes, sometimes, so well done.

It's a neat trick in a mystic poem to avoid sounding too naively New Age, and I think you've managed it (though what do I know; I'm very conservative and not at all democratic in my religious views!)

There's an obvious typo near the start of these lines, Daniel ....

"We are the maintance the workers the guardians of this earth

and the body of the universe."

And personally, I feel poetry of this sort (eg the lines above) needs punctuation, to help it flow, to aid comprehension etc.

It feels distinctly like a 'Billy Collins' type poem, and I adore Billy Collins.

It seems there is more going on around the poem's blurred edges. Unlike Francine's interpretation, I didn't really sense any humour in its text. Yet those last few lines are written in such a way that they're very subjective.

What I really like about this piece? It somehow challenges a reader to make their own discoveries as to what's 'behind' or 'inside' its words; as it's already shown.

Great poem. Well done, Jeremy.

Love it!
Feeling out of touch and so far away can at times
make you feel as though you are on another planet...

'Her man is on the Norfolk coast again
while I am on the Pacific seaboard
thousands of miles west,
on another planet.'

Very funny too...

'my TV orders me to open my heart
to Jesus, embrace eternal life;
and a man, who has
surely inhaled something,
mistakes me for Elton John;
thanks me for the song
I wrote for Diana.'

Très bien fait : )

Hi Daniel. The middle section of this reminds me of one of my favourite poems/poets.What do you think?

I have seen eternity
Balls of fire burning bright
In the sky of never ending darkness and chaos
You say God created this

Henry Vaughan (The World)

I saw Eternity the other night
Like a great Ring of pure and endless light
All calm as it was bright.
... Driven by the spheres,
Like a vast shadow moved, in which the world
And all her train were hurled

enjoyed your poem keep posting

Well - i was just following Jonboy around, who it appears was following Francine around! Another hilarious rant that would be brilliant to hear write out loud. Didn't realise there was quite so much pressure on men to look good - they certainly don't go for the old plastic surgery very much. Am off to bronze myself in the sun now - got to keep looking good - especially when you can get it for free....

Thanks all. Francine, Kirby est une région au bord de la Liverpool elle est trés belle; tu doit La visiter une fois. Augusta, Darling, our leader is looking forward to meeting you. Steve, I don't believe in free will because our brains are made of chemicals and our minds are the mental product of those chemicals and thermodynamics together with the interpretation that we put on current stimuli in the light of our back-stories, and as such our decisions are just a by-product of all of those things obeying the laws of physics and sociology.

Take me to your leader.

Your poem is stark and minimalist .. simplistic and quite beautiful.

Coincidently Bargain Booze sells a minimalist larger...branded Kestrel.. of course only the grey people know about that.

Hi once again Izo

The sizzling snappy rhythm is wonderful great lines

The intertwining of the couplets are superb
Particularly like

The higgerty jiggerty
Jumping jack joy of me
The wouldn’t hurt a hair
On the head of a fly of me

Just love the delicate under apparel off this poem!!!

Good stuff, neat contrasts in habitats, and a hint of this great paradox ... that wildlife seem noble in their 'natural settings' (besmirched though they be at the substantial edges by man); yet man, for all his modern corruptions, is perhaps the superior beast.

Because men (and women) write poetry; kestrals don't.

Also hinted at, humankind's moral choices - a consequence of the great gift to humans of free will, which mere animals, in their simplicity, needn't bother about.

Big themes ... with Kirkby, of all places, as a backdrop.
