Thankyou, MC. I understand that prostate cancer is one of the most treatable types provided itβs caught early enough. Yet so many men seem reluctant to get tested. And thanks for the Likes, Holden, Stephen and Paige.

Thanks for likes Holden and Hugh.
Yes,
Stephen, I couldn't recommend the Stars and Stripes but our local one in Sainsbury's has re opened and bucked its ideas up and the coffee seems to have improved - I hope it's not the virus kicking in!
Penguin you do me more than justice ! It's a strange device to conjoin two words that don't really make logical sense, but seem to work in the poetry framework, thanks.
Yes David there is an irksome quality to the process of standing waiting, probably no worse than being a frustrated motorist - it's a horrible facet of unreal expectation. I remember being in Abbey National once for ages and on reaching the hatch asked if they did bed and breakfast. Went down like a lead balloon of course. I really like the Nero coffee but sadly on this occasion there was a big problem on board, I'll go back, just a blip! Re the brackets it was a sort of an additional thought which I think would not have scanned too well if not separated - like an aside I suppose. Maybe "I thought was a man" would have been neater, but it's not my usual trait!
John, I'm no expert in the taste zones of the north, but probably no demarcation on the global brand in local terms.
Sadly our local Costa has definitely watered down the brew so it seems, less coffee same price hovering around the Β£3.50 mark. We've got a bookshop who do great coffee, so there!
Graham, you are an unashamed connoisseur on the matter apparently and who am I to interfere with that? In my dim memory bank there are strong coffee and brandy moments and never finer than when thus mustered.

John/Manish/Holden and Hugh - thank you for the "likes".
In fairness, I certainly appreciated being paid for my various
published poems but I have spent far more in self-pubilshing
and contributing to the liks of WOL and suspect the existence
of a self-propagating world in which the aim is to obtain large
sums from the public purse in pursuance of a certain type of
poetical product via competitions and campaigns in various names that see a paucity of verse in evidence.

An original rendition (shades of "Muddy Waters"π) that sings
soulfully of a nuisance condition that plagues mainly older men.
No medical reason has been discovered for its emergence and
it affects its victims to varying degrees. It is certainly to be
given attention but it is not necessarily linked to cancer. I've
been on the medical merry-go-round for years after my then
GP thought my PSA reading required urology attention. I was
told it was unlikely I had cancer but that was merely the
prelude to being kept in the "maybe it might be" syndrome.
DIET is worth mentioning ,with foods like tomatoes, broccoli,
pomegranate and turmeric possessing qualities that are
said to be good for the prostate, along with olive oil as a very
useful "lubricant" for the body and its circulation in general.
Moral: Eat wisely - live heathily...and keep everything moving!
π Good luck!.

I think I take your point about moving forward, David.
Maybe analogies about the physics of the universe would serve us better if we could actually take a universal view of history, which doesn't really seem possible.
Thanks for your thoughtful contributions...

Hi Ray
A good example of our sometimes needlessly hurried days.
I'm curious why you would retain the text included in brackets. It might endear you to a particular reader whereas it just might lose you others, just a thought.
As chains go Nero is one of the better ones, I think.

Hi Landi,
Thanks for your comments.
I hear your point regarding entropy, I believe that entropy is unstoppable regardless whether the past be forgotten or not. I would rather say that forgetting enables the act of moving forward free of the past, which is something else. Forgive me if I misunderstand.
Yes, headlines are the clay from which the digestible established facts are formed...that is why first hand accounts are desirable to counter those favoured by the masters. That is also why third hand musings can be dangerous and unreliable for they too are maleable by unscrupulous forces...indeed some are even agents of those forces. Forgive my slightly conspiracy type theory, I definitly am not for most of that nonsense but am aware of how State actors might manipulate to favour.
I could quote the suspension of the Governmental spokes person Eylon Levy this very morning by his State Government. How long have most of us seen his untruths spoken. I suspect he was a calculated pawn in the game and may not receive too much by way of punishment. I would say a necessary sacrifice to effect a greater purpose, (as perceived by The State, not me) he may even get promoted.
I have heard of though am not familiar with Tim O'Brien, perhaps I'll take a look.
As an alternate thought, I am a great admirer of the correspondent Don McCullin, he managed to convey and suggest truths by hardly ever speaking a word. Strange world eh?
All the best,
David

Thanks for reading, comments and likes.
I would encourage you to view the link as it does dive a little deeper into the origins of this piece.
In all humility I would ask those who write of war who have not truly experienced it to consider those who have. To possibly imagine the price they continually pay for doing so and their attempts to convey those horrors to others. As I say in my video I do not object to anyone writing about anything from any perspective. The truth probably is that the greatest most beautiful and horrific thoughts on war have never seen the page as they have never survived to do so. It is with that it mind that I suggest we tread delicately on subjects where we present ourselves in the midst of what we may not know. It is only with the element of authenticity that we might serve well the memories of those slaughtered and damaged.
Informative, compassionate, impassioned and empathetic poetry from an outside percpective is undeniably of value, I respect and often admire it.
For the second time in recent weeks I've had a couple of disappearing comments, fortunately both of which I have been able to read prior to their evaporation. I'm not sure what that says about me or those who chose to disappear them. All the same thanks for your brief appearances, however strange.
All the best,
David.
