Brian Bilston - A Review

Standing stock still on the Storyhouse stage

Purringly, the poet poked, parried, proselytised and punned

It was a wry, rhythmic romp, a rhyming rampage

With fulfilling Fibonacci fables, felines and one Frisbee being flung

Meteoric, metaphysical, making mincemeat of the Mail

Wielding words with wondrous wit

The Lemsip Laureate left a trail

Of moments that will hang about a bit

It was an assembly or anthology of anathema and analogy

A deprecating distillation of our nation

Lacking nothing in hilarity and verbosity with clarity

Brian Bilston is more than just alliteration

Lovely stuff indeed RAP.

Brian Bilston is a great guy and doing poetry a real service. Quite a few people I know don't like poetry, but they do like what he does.

Thanks Greg - I enjoyed the article when I read it first time around & re-reading it, having just seen him, was even better. He’s got a great, subtle stage presence for a self confessed introvert & the audience connection was strong. It was his first solo gig after touring with Henry Normal - he nailed it!

Thank you Stephen & Graham - he was inspirational, even with a heavy cold - the Lemsip Laureate indeed!
