I agree with Ray about the last line. Maybe something to do with 'location? Would rhyme and scan better?
I love the summing up of the hugely emotionally complex experience of the evacuation of children in the line "They sat on sofas with huge cushions". That is such a touching image of comfort and safety in the midst of separation and danger.

I think you managed to produce a piece of art that is quite beautiful. Sometimes, when I get a quiet moment and my head is clear, I often start my writing process by saying something similar to myself. Whether it works is another matter, but it's a starting point nonetheless. Thanks for posting. Colin.

I admire your tenacity, however you sound confused about a person maybe u need to voice your feelings directly to that person without others interfering and maybe it's all a question of timing. If the other person isn't ready or hasn't been prepared to hear your voice, leave it up to the universe. MADELINE. AND my prayers are with u, with your career and general well being. X

As the old comic says, don't buy any long playing records. A serious subject, treated with world weary resignation. I personally think those funeral plans are just cynical exploitation.

A nice trip down memory lane, with no doubt a lot of people displaced, not so bad for the kids as for the parents I suppose. Life changing stuff and worthy of record Keith. With respect I would have liked a few lines at the end to round it off. Only my personal feeling !

This sounds like a lot of spirit and little formality, which I think works well. Better than planning everything and getting all OCD about it. I feel comfortable and intrigued with the poem, Hazel!

This was an idea I wanted to bring to life in a filmic context, so I'm so pleased with all your comments.

David, especially like your mention of the 3rd Man, bringing to mind the Harry Lime Theme on zither, which was a hit when I was a kid. I think black and white was the best medium for stark qualities of the genre, and also the subtleties. It seemed to have its origins in Germany, or at least Europe, and was picked up by Hitchcock. A sort of primordial recipe for all things intrepid and fearful. I was thinking too of Maigret. It's nice to watch these old films !Keep in touch mate.

Hi Brian, what a great track that is. Thanks.

Col, I think you should be respected for that comment, so I have added another verse. Cheers.

Hazel, very nice of you to say so. Praise indeed!

Cynthia, nice to hear from you - glad it worked for you.
Thanks.

Much appreciated Graham. I respect your comments as much as I do your poetry.

Jennifer, welcome ! As I mentioned above, I did think of Maigret. The books were always excellent to read. I quite like the Rowan Atkinson re-incarnation of recent times.
Thanks for that.

Trevor, Hannah and Rachel thank you so much for the likes.

Suki, you're right, for a happy life we should try for balance of opposites. It's hard to reconcile our moods on occasion.

Thanks for the like Rich.
