A tale from a garden. It could have many meanings.
Intriguing. I love your work.

Love this one, really made me laugh.
Some places do have skeleton staff, when others are 'on leave'.
Images in my mind now.

Oh I absolutely love this one! I bloody love a good peat fire too - warmest thing ever.
Cracking piece this Trev - haunting, atmospheric, can almost smell the bog.

Yes and I'm exhausted now! First time I've tried to do it all the way through, and even though I missed some weekends and the very start of it, it's still been a really hard slog. BUT I've come up with some that I've actually loved, some I found funny and enjoyable to write, and of course some absolute stinkers ? Been a lot of fun (and angst when the poems don't come haha).
Thanks Trev!

Thanks Trevor, glad you liked 'Killing the Piano'. You're right about the digital stuff - there's nothing wrong with them (I've got a few keyboards lying around my flat!) but there's so much more to a real piano than that.

A poignant tale. The piano serves as a nostalgic link to the past, but takes up too much space in a modern life. The modern, electronic ones stay in tune, sound pretty good (to an untrained ear, at least), but don't have the charisma of a 'real' piano.

....and that's a wrap for NaPoWriMo2018.
BTW, sleán is gaelic for the special design of spade used for cutting peat used for fuel.

There is something about musical instruments, that, although inanimate they do have a voice! Always a sad day when one is destroyed, captured well here Joe.
Well done on POTW

This has all the rhyme and meter of a rap and as such I think it would work well live. Have you ever thought of performing it. I like the subject matter as well.

Lucky you! Such a wonderful experience and a great poem. That second line is fab!
Although I seriously contest the implied 'marriage' of 'pubs and poetry'. I don't drink much - never had the cash or the inclination, but mostly the money. And I don't feel poetically handicapped. If I got boozed up, I'd probably be sick, not inspired. But who knows what depths/heights/surrounds I've missed. ?

Thanks for your encouraging comments Colin.
I thought perhaps the second verse might BE the view from "over there" (ancient greece or something, as always!) and as such is entitled to read quite differently. Perhaps they hadn't invented puncuation back then.

Great title and opening line Adam. As a 'work in progress' poem the two verses seem a little disconnected. I prefer the first and would be interested to see those thoughts explored further. But there's lots to like in the second verse too. Either way I enjoyed reading. Thanks for posting. Colin.
