Hi Jon,
Beautifully crafted poem.
Brought a lump to my throat. The inevitability of it all.?
Thank you

you always manage to get under the skin of your characters Louise - a poet with a forensic touch. It's quite disturbing as a crime horror scene but the rhythm and rhyme keeps the reader engaged. Col.

I relate to this completely Hayley. My House keeps saying "get off that bloody computer don and dust me" to which I reply "inna minute House, gotta talk to my WOL friends". to which it replies "shit! don, you wanna live inna mess?" to which I reply "no, but..."

Ribbit...ribbit... froggie talk for "get off your bum don and get into house-cleaning mode... "inna minute"

woof woof ?

Thank you for reading Taylor, it is very much appreciated. ?

And thank you Jane for seeing the point illustrated. It is true, rhymers are sometimes nowadays passed off as second-class to other types of poets, and it is often by those too pretentious to realize that the world is bigger than the edge of their own nose.

There's always time for a rhyme, and always time for Ogden Nash in that aspect.?

In my mind,
words make towers.
Thank you for adding some to these towers.
Picking me up when I went down.
Giving me tips and compliments to aid in my journey
to becoming a real poet and author.
As they say,
some make a big impact on one's life.

Putting aside the fact that I agree with you entirely, you have written a fantastic article revealing the prejudice which exist within the poetry community between the rhymer and the writer of free verse or prose.

Ray,
This delightful poem reminded me of some short lived piano lessons I had years ago. I managed Twinkle Twinkle Little Star but obviously you graduated much further to a gavotte. Such a poem is entertaining as most readers will have had a bash at some similar interest or other hobby, successfully or not.
Thank you
Keith

A very subtle and thoughtful poem Tom. To start with, an almost Alice in Wonderland moment of tumbling, leading to choices which challenge us and open doors, then the analogy of something equally fine which is also an exploration into what we already have. Which would we choose, as you rightly say? - it is all fairy dust but real for us. In many ways, life can turn on moments like these.

Sorry Don but I missed the bus as usual, it could be my black official uniform of inspector that put off the driver.
His instructions were to remove any passengers with a mental age higher than ten. Someone like me always has to put things in perspective to no avail. No brakes on the bus. Anyway, don't worry - there'll be another one along in a minute!

Insults need to be politely put or they become equated
with the low level of their target. Therein lies the risk
of resorting to them in retaliation for a resented word or
action.

Hayley - this piece will surely resonate with people of my generation who have come up on the radar of the health authorities and are constantly being invited in to have tests for this, that and the other. In fact I'm off to the doctors tomorrow afternoon for something...can't remember what, I just go.
