I quite enjoy the format of this piece, as to me it makes an easier, well-flowing read capable of digesting it all line-by-line instead of by stanza. Well done on this.?

Thank you for this Big Sal. It's great to see members of the wider WoL community getting involved with writing articles and book reviews. I'm looking forward to more from whoever fancies stepping up and having a go. I think this is a really positive approach for WoL to take as it makes the experience of sharing our poetry worlds so much more intimate for want of a better word. Col.

I was talking with an Amy last night on one of those live internet chat things - no that sort, it was with my bank, and no not the sperm bank either! Probably a different Amy I'm sure. A real belter of a poem this one Martin and a fine piece of story telling. Can't decide though if the last line would read better if written 'She'd had enough'. Col.

Martin,
Thank you for this comment. I suppose this sudden poem, as it appeared out of nowhere, was the inner self in revolt at the world we see about us and yet remain quiet. Every day I seem to encounter, either personaly or through the media, people who seem to have sold their souls to a world of materialism and greed. I felt anger and needed to articulate my feelings.
Thank you again....it is a change of gear.

Some people complain that sarcasm is 'beneath them' or only 'when you can't communicate in other words', but I personally think it's the best vehicle for delivering a concise point to someone - especially if they're pretending not to listen to the message being conveyed. I like the candor of your piece and how it showcases unrealistic standards in a realistic light for others to see.?

This piece is a sarcasm over the expectations and social standards imposed over girl just to get the reward of good girl. It is suffocating to know these standards still exist.
Live and let others live.
Happy Reading,
Ankita.

Top notch sentiment. Each stanza could stand in for a verse in a song. Add a little chorus into each space between the stanzas and you have yourself a ballad or dedication. The poem itself is excellent.??

Your poems certainly are getting the attention they deserve to which I am more than happy to add to Martin. This is a well penned if somewhat tragically ending read.
If I was asked if we will ever be rid of the scourge I'm afraid the answer would be the inevitable one.
Best regards.
