Hi Ray

Thanks once again for the positive comments - just to let you know, The Same Old Dance is made up.

It came from a writing exercise using the picture that I have posted with the poem (The Dance by Paula Rego).
The exercise was to look at the picture and imagine the world that it exists in the picture and then write down 6 laws that operate within the world/picture. Then I had to write a monologue speaking as an inhabitant of the world, but not refer directly to the laws.

Cheers

I notice you use the term "voice" a lot.
I am glad you found yours.
as for me, i hear voices,
not always mine.

Serious and Fun are always playing games in my mind. Keeping the little tykes under control at times is like a parent trying to keep unruly kids under control. But I try my best and give them each equal play in the spotlight - they have hidden desires for greatness which I try to dampen without hurting their feelings ?

Not on mat
Gone from where
He shoulda sat

Will he come
Back to sit?
Back on mat?
Don't give a shit.

I can clearly remember going on family holidays down to Cornwall, and being stuck on the infamous Honiton bypass in the searing heat even with the windows wound down,. No air con in those days. Well not for a Ford Cortina!

Thanks to Keith, Desmond and Louise for liking and to Racha, Brian, Anya, Stu, Jane, Rachel, Tommy, Ray, Colin, Rose and Darren for commenting

Glad you liked it Racha

I don't have any experience with sisters Brian so I will have too take your word for it mate

Anya I guess many relationships can be stifling. I am just glad mine isn't

Ray I hadn't thought of it being like a madness track, but you could be right as they have written some songs that are a microcosm of society

Rose I really can't imagine you with anybody like that even after a night of alcoholic beverages

Col I always deliberate about choosing names for characters but unless Amy has a twin in may not be the same one

Stu, Tommy, Rachel, Jane and Darren thank you so much for your encouraging comments

Cheers

It's funny to know that dumb ass Trump will forever take full responsibility for the US/NK meeting without ever paying dues to the South Korean delegation, government, his own government, or anyone else. Captain Dipshit over here and his own delusions will be the only thing remembered during this time. It's poems like this that prove people still care about the deteriorating situation the world finds itself in, and regardless of what his mindless supporters think - we all are better off without the orange fool on the button. Well done on this, I applaud any poetry that goes against the grain and succeeds beautifully in doing so.?

Hello Taylor,

I just can’t believe that at last I have found a like minded poet! So encouraging what you say in your profile, very brave and very, very true. Your poem ‘who said that’ is word for word how think about my poetry, and proves it’s not just me with those same opinions! I will never win any competition as I’m incapable and not interested in writing ‘contemporary amazing poetry’ even though I wrote a rhyming poem for Princess Anne, poetry magazines said “so what” we still are not interested in your stuff. Must dash, going to read all your work! Take care

Then there was one who might have returned sooner or later
Following a decision to hot-rod the highway on a car's radiator.
I resist the temptation to formulate a feline sonnet
To elaborate on this wilful wayfaring underneath the bonnet!

A whole year! since I made contact before. How's the novel coming along? Finished and published, perhaps?
