I quite admire that, Stu. I put it off for a long while but finally gave in. Truthfully, I never wanted to be that "important" as to have to be interrupted. I mean, most conversations that happen by phone can wait, unless you're a medical professional on call or something else for which you get paid A LOT to be on standby.

Lots of pitfalls for those who value autonomy and privacy...

Like anyone really cares, but I don't think there is a greater annoyance than people who talk loudly and at length on cell phones in public places--and certainly no other somewhat minor annoyance that will make me any more confrontational.

That said, I don't share exactly the same sentiment regarding written disclosures--I can stop reading if or whenever I wish. Though, I still like to think that I reserve the right to protest when I feel it is due.

Everybody's got dirty laundry, Ray, as I'm sure you're wise enough to be well aware. But, none of us have the right to harass others through personal expression that would be better channeled through less public media.

..more than one analogy to be appreciated, here.

Thanks man.

Rachel

Having the picture of spinning straw into gold really changes the perspective of this poem. Very unique style we don't usually see over here. I feel like that must have taken a while. Quite brilliant.

This must be the only poem world wide on such an unromantic subject.
I suppose this is what happens when you are forced to live the wrong way up. mmmm

I have a sneaky feeling that I would like a little lovot - I could take it for a walk - pretend its a dog - but never have to feed it.
mmmmmmmmmmmm sad.

I really enjoyed The Matriarch, not least because it gave me comfort that you were still contributing (I sensed some weeks back that it was a while since I'd read any of your poems or otherwise heard from you).

Like a number of your readers, I am hooked on trees and I love the words that you have used to declare your infatuation too.

More like adoration than love, this is often the way feelings claw their way into the light only to be blinded, through early stirrings Vautaw. I can just remember that.

What a heart-warming response to this poem. I have enjoyed looking up 'corvid' and 'passerine', two words that I once did know and have long since forgotten 'in detail', but not 'in effect'.

I did once pause at a gate to watch some fine horses far off in a big field. I was just looking, but the curious creatures sauntered right across the pasture and congregated in front of me, gently blowing their nostrils open, and clearly interested in my greetings. I didn't stay very long. But, on my departure, just a few steps down the road, I heard jingly-jangling behind me, and the gate swung open and I had four horses clopping down the paved road catching up with me. I took off at a run to get my sister who is the 'horse person' of the family, to return these huge, friendly animals back into the field. They opened the gate, not me, but I didn't know how I'd ever explain that to anybody else who might be very accusatory, such as their owners. She was/is a 'horse whizz' and she came to my rescue full speed, laughing her head off.

'You have such charisma!' she hooted. 'No, really, they were probably just bored!.'

Sisters are allowed to pat with one hand and smack with the other. I wouldn't know about brothers: I don't have any.
