Delighted you are inspired by mother nature for a new book po...
She is the giver of all we have and the reason we feel connected to the earth.
I seen a university from Cambridge done a scientific experiment on two identical plants both planted in the same soil, both watered at the same time both in the same type of plant pot..
Their experiment was providing proof that how the plant grows depends on how its treated with word's...
One plant was told daily how unloved it was and how un pretty it looked and how bad it smelled etc...
While the other was told how beautiful it is and how nicely it smells and how amazing it is etc...
One plant grew so big, leafs the brightest green color and its sprouted out the most beautiful flower bud's.
The other plant however did not grow so well, its leafs wore a much darker sadder shade of green and no flower buds appeared.
Sad yet so true..
Go out to your garden ' dont stop at just a pose " but thank every flower and weed and bush and tree for being apart of your garden ?

And I totally agree with you about the expression of one's self in the art of writing. This sight is indeed full of many talented creative poet's. I doubt most do not see what the readers do, they may assume they are in fact not absolutely spectacular in their writing capabilities!! and I felt the need to emphasize the fact that they are. ??
Belief of one's self is not mastered by many and I believe it's highly important to remind soul's of their incredible gifts at any given opportunity.

I can only repeat that this rather sad, graphic poem does indeed capture the barren and jaded spirit of our times. I loved the line about the men washed out at 40 nursing their pints and all those dubious enterprises that blossom then disappear. Great poem, there's a real authenticity here. Thanks David.

This is fantastic poetry , the insight to the memories you hold so dear to your heart and the pain and broken soul of your father has brought tears to my eye's. pain is not often beautifully written. You however have made this piece into a short movie which I admire.

Thanks to everyone who's so far liked or commented on this Poem.
It came to me more or less as it is while walking through the Churchyard
I think inspiration for it came from my Dad's current state of health, the time of year also plays a factor, being the period that my Mum died, between Christmas and New Year and the contrast between now and then.

You have spoke often about your dad and your relationship with him so I have some insight.
Maybe I see this differently but for me this isn't reflective of happy days.
Your a markedly different man to your father just as I am to mine.
Wigan might as well of been the moon for you "you couldn't of been more out of place"
Memories of youth aren't all golden and getting old gives us one overwhelming thing of value.... Clarity

That really means a lot to me. This poem I wrote briefly touches on my attempted suicide many moons ago so this poem is very dear to my heart.
It's still only a working progress. I'm sure I could do better with it.

I absolutely love this.
I am blessed and extremely lucky and privileged to say I have a bestfriend from day 16 into my life as im that many days older than her.(haha)
but threw thick and tin she stood by me and I her.
Their wore many ' I mean MANY times I acted in such a way that appalled her and made her cringe but she never ever treated me any differently and never ever let me down. And most certainly never allowed another to speak ill of me while not in my presence. She was always good, where as I got lost over the year's. the times I let myself down and her she was their 100% no questions asked...
I agree with you fully jay, to even call yourself a friend , you must act like one no matter what!!!!!
Its a title not all deserve.

Bloody hell Phil. I've been a muso for years and have seen some action but this takes the biscuit. I took out a topless barmaid once who asked me to top someone in a club. Not me, I said. She thought I was permanently high, but it was just my head in the clouds. (She was beautiful but a duff fuck by the way. I didn't know she was a prossy). (But I digress). I knew a sax player who was called Mad John, but it was because he was so mild).

Hi Tommy. A strong and simple poem with that nice herbal twist that edges it in humour. A good effect to leave a blank when we know the word and then follow it with a phonetically similar one.
