Oh Peter...
The imagery and eradication of loves past by fire made me tremble. Were I to follow suit... the plume of fire would be seen on Google Earth... and close several airports for weeks....
What a superb piece... just loved the pants off it!!Well doneLook forward to meeting up with you soon, give me a ring.

I also think this works very well. "roots and worms and skulls and crowns / and roman glass and buried urns of bones, / patterned crockery and unexploded bombs": there's a real music to this. Words have been chosen very carefully for their sound in juxtaposition to each other. I like the idea that near the bottom is Harold's eye. A reminder that England's history could have been so different!

I have to respectfully disagree with Graham. I feel the jumble beneath our feet does reflect very well the jumble beneath our conscious minds and love the idea of 'heart' at the bottom of it all. Really enjoyed.

Very enjoyable. So much for the diet. Would, no doubt, perform well in your inimitable style.

WOW! Re Hebden Bridge station! That is so amazing, as I copied it months and months ago! Next tome I go there I'll have to get someone to take a photo of me standing there with my rucksack on my back, looking up the track! Wow! xx

Hi Ann, Yes, It is Hebden Bridge Station! Not the normal sort of passenger you get waiting for the Leeds train! Win x

Thank you for your kind observations on my 're-mix'. I am happier with it and I think it stands up (so to speak) as a poem. It is a bit odd plagiarising ones self but oddly satisfying. I might try it again in a different form, I've already got the first line of a sonnet there! Or perhaps I should move on and find something else to write about? : )

Hi Win! I've just changed my profile pic and used an image I've had on my computer for ages. Now that I've been to Hebden Bridge station I can see that this painting does look exactly like it. Although I suppose lots of stations used to look like that. What do you think? xx
Comment is about Winston Plowes (poet profile)

How did you guess! Do you think the painting is HB? I found the image ages ago and copied it onto my computer, but I never took a note of where it was or who the artist was. But now I've been there, it does look just like it. xx

I agree with Ann's sentiments, you go further into rather than violently look for a desperate escape as in Plath's "Burning the letters". Both I like. Very touching. well done.
and thanks for your comment..hee hee!

Are you happy with this now John? I hope so. I think it's really good. Some of the images are beautiful indeed. The last three lines make it quite haunting, there's almost a sense of horror as if something like incest has taken place. Just my interpretation here. xx

Lots to praise in this and should perform well. I particularly liked the ending in which the lost lover's attention to detail is only brought into focus by your own attention to detail. A nice touch that works well on the page, and would also finish a performance effectively

Thank you Cynthia. I must have been about 14 when I played a mome rath on our class's performance of the Jabberwocky on the school stage. It was quite fun outgrabing!

Thanks for those comments Freda and Cynthia. Very kind. I think the form is called an Italian Sonnet. I don't want to take any credit for it. I suppose cyberspace can be any colour you like.. as long as it's black.

good poem Dave, awful subject eh-poor kids subjected to bullying and having to face it on a daily basis-terrible-fortunately a lot of schools seem to be doing well in eradicating it-but obviously it rears its ugly head in a lot of other quarters-very poignant poem Dave. very nice to see you back-handsome image and all! best to you-Stefan.

Didn't see the station. Really enjoyed that weekend though - even though there were some things I'd like to see done differently next time. Had awful come down after it - wish there was another one planned already - to look forward to.

I liked this too Pete. It seemed like at the very end, when all was burning and it was too late, the lost lover took life again. There she was! I loved the last, almost throwaway, line. I'd love to hear you perform this.

Thanks Graham. I guess I was delving down into the earth as an archaeologist might do. A description of that mishmash of things and their respective meanings - or maybe they have no meaning at all? It WAS a list really, but I hoped that the language and the images would carry it through. xx

Yes - I like the line Janet liked, in particular - the idea that someone can be encapsulated in a smell of a perfume bottle. I like the way you manage to also express the missed eroticism of that person - very your style.
I liked the description of the photos curling up also.
Good to see you back posting! x

Colourful Robin! A Christmassy theme. I agree about cat owners. I bet some others who are not would find 'Amber' unhygeinic to say the least.

Ann, a lovely idea that I felt was all mixed up. At times it seemed that it was listing eras and items etc.
For me a closer correlation between the what and the when would have made it more powerful. Super idea though.

Hello Cynthia, nice to hear from you. I don't have a name for this structure (or even know if there is one) as it was really inspired by music strangely. Also my first poem inspired by a dream. I admit it really is a leap of faith to both write and read. Definitely out of MY comfort zone. Regards, Graham
