These are powerful words:
"Though we are attracted to the physical nature
I find the soul strongly appealing,
Reveal to me what you wear under your skin.
You are beautiful
Yet more to me than flesh and bone.
Sing to with me in conversation
Let's exchange our opinions before pleasure,
Only then may our bodies do all that our minds fantasize about"
When one experiences another's soul/spirit, "then may the body do all that our minds fantasize about."
Good writing!
CM

Clicking on the like seems an inadequate response. So sad but a lovely poem. My condolences. From personal experience, the last three lines are so true.

I love walking poems, Peter, and they are particularly important now ... but there is so much more here than that. So much material for thought. Thanks for sharing.

Shifa, I wish it were often so, but it is really quite rare considering the number of words I get through so I'm glad if some of them seem amazing. I'm happy that you appreciated and liked this poem, thanks sincerely for taking time to comment.
Vautaw thanks also for your like of this and the other phoenix poem, I am glad you like them, there's one more coming soon.

Thanks Brian, & I don't mind at all!
The animal analogy wasn't even in my thoughts when I started writing it, they just sort of turned up unannounced! Something to do with we all struggle no matter who ( or what we are). But I know what you mean. And why a deer, fox & birds?

It's incredibly easy to write about negativity, yet there is no end of positive things out there. I can think of a couple off the top of my head, but I won't let on as I don't want to deprive the doom-mongers of their fun.

My love has gone quiet. He drinks until hes sober. Irish roots too. I convince myself I don't miss him. Only I loved him when sober and that I guess is the test. Do you still love them in the morning. I wish you love and happiness my friend and your dreams to come true.

Stephen, this is a great poem, the story, the sentiment, the structure. The only bit that doesn't work for me is the verse with deer, fox and birds. Hope you don't mind me mentioning it...just my opinion.

Never heard of Miss Mary's walk, although I have walked to Hesleden via the cycle track.
And, like you, when I was a lad, any sign of a derelict building & I was in! At least we lived to tell the tale!

Thanks for your kind comments, Gents.
Penning this one was, for me a sort of cathartic way in handling my grief by providing a brief distraction whilst allowing me to try and focus on moving forward through it all.
I posted it on here in case anyone else could possibly gain some comfort from it.
As you may have noticed, most of my other offerings are fun-based and that's where I gain most creative pleasure. ?

Bound to resonate with anyone in a similar situation (like me!) or those who dread it happening. Life goes on in thought and deed.
The duality of this message is a nice touch for a delicate subject.

Jeans with holes
leave girls disposed
to show more leg
which men extol
at least that is
what I've been told
the more the leg
the merrier our souls.

Thanks, Stephen, new meanings is certainly something I wanted the poem to convey but the poem needs to retain the duality of realising that the original meaning might not be properly uncovered, and of the creation of meaning by what we choose to understand and what we choose to do as a wide choice of many possibilities. But the poem as it is does feel unsettled and on edge as I reach the end of it and it could well be the fault of the last line. Here's a few other possible endings (putting the intention into words helps a lot).
And only if only
From knowing this much
Can we start to seek
Or hope to find
What is meant.
And only if only
From knowing this much
Can we start to seek
Or hope to find
The real meaning.
I'm really glad you opened the conversation for this.
I'm thinking maybe 'the real meaning' works best, but I'll have to let it brew a while first.

If you want to show off
and make men want to troll
then wear those hot pants
with the raggedy holes,
the more woman's flesh
the more enticing to see
so show men some leg
and they'll hover like bees!

Good stuff Stephen. People can become negative as the years go on, becoming bitter and uncompromising. I think the ability to see yourself as others see you helps, easier said than done.
