J.D. I'm filled with fear
not because its Halloween
But because of what I've just seen.

In my past life, I fought against crime
an eternal fight amongst evil and the grim.
Crack and weed and shit people don't need
to have a great time, and the warnings didn't heed.

I used to partake til a jab in the bum
and section in the nuthouse ensured that life was done.

Have a glance backwards at some of my poems
a saunter through the past, have a quick roam.
If you don't have time to read my fight against crime
I'll give you an update at some future time.

I've seen too many friends go off the rails
and seen some greusome deaths, I'll spear you the details
So many of my mates now on the other side
When I'm alone at night many a tear I've cryed.

Po

I don't want to lose another, we've only just met
I want to get to get to know you which I haven't just yet.

It gets crazier by the second
That's what I reckon.

Po.

Loved your poem today 'Missing you' on 'Halloween'.

WOL is all the richer for you being here J.D.

Po, a fellow poet across the pond.

Yes Bardo. Such is a rarity in today's time. But desires keeps the flames of hope burning.

May the mankind be blessed. 💖

Since you joined my life has taken a new turn
Us oldies, unlike old dogs, have so much to learn.

Still, we have so much to offer the young... just when I thought my life over, it has only just begun.

Keep inspiring!

One is never alone
when one has a poem

Locked inside you head
will die in its tomb

release those words
and let them fly
they will return a thousandfold
by and by.

Thanks for reading "Death Sentence",
It is scary and almost mean
what we have done to our elders.
Let the family decide ! Not government!

JD, appreciate your Likes on my recent work. I note you hail from the States where I visited on 2 occasions and very much enjoyed.

You have some great examples of muse writing in your neck of the woods - and what is a small pond like the Atlantic, when poised quills are ready for scratching away at the parchment.

Will certainly be looking in at some of your work. Thanks again for getting in touch.

Blessings.

Your poems are fine
and rhyme, although
their rhyming scheme's
a little slow,
to right a poem
here's what we know
break out the words
break out the Bordeaux!

JD.,

Thank you for your message and complimentary words. It was very kind of you. I also find your poetry interesting and look forward to reading more. I share your need to be surrounded by the 'right people'. Those with whom we can relate to on a more meaningful level. I have been on WOL for approximately four years and log in almost every day. It was this site that inspired me to compile my first book of poems.

Your style of writing speaks of someone sensitive to life in its many aspects. Your ability to rhyme is very good. Your sheer ability to express yourself comes across as being genuine. You must keep writing as I believe you have a lot to say that people will want to read.

Maybe it would be a good idea for us to correspond via our e mail addresses and thus get to know each other better.

JD.,

Thanks for commenting on my poems. I really appreciate this from someone who writes well yourself. I live on the edge of a small town where hedgehogs and squirrels are all over the place preparing for winter. They drive my dogs bananas. I am also pleased you enjoyed Faces in the shadows in which I revisit my youth when life was a furtive existence. But fun also. (wow)

Keep writing mate. I look forward to reading more of your work and perhaps getting to know you better.
