Thanks, Julie. 'Forever' and 'Treasure' is a clever, effective rhyme.

Thank you so much for your comments, Stephen A, Stephen G, John B and John C, they are much valued.
Also thanks to those who have liked this poem.
I wanted to write using dialogue as a sort of celebration of it, My dear mum, sadly no longer with us, had a broad Wiltshire accent, which I loved and now miss hearing.
Curiously, a stranger did once knock at my cottage door asking if we took in B and B guests, our home being of limited size I had to say no, probably just as well.

A few year ago every time I passed her coffee shop in the mall (the famous one that didn't enjoy paying tax) I would see her. Then one day both her coffee shop and had gone. I am spoken for now π

Making a good point. That around our self-obsessed selves the
rest of life carries on living and surviving as best it can and creating more of the same for the world to know.

A beautiful and sensitive piece Cassandra, thank you for sharing it.
I too felt bereft when my father died, that was many years ago now, but I think and talk of him often.
Writing is such a great way of pinning feelings and memories down.
Take care

Wryly humorous - like it! And to a degree - in my late 70s - I
can identify with the content. I'm an advocate of using chosen
clothing to aid bodily warmth (and decrease heating bills!) with
the knowledge of the right clothing layers trap body heat and
help provide comfort free of charge. I have a single economy
7 radiator in my small kitchen-diner where I spend most of my
time and its use is my only electric concession to the cold that
can exist within the walls of the building. But it IS winter after
all, so some individual adjustment to circumstances is required.
Try wearing something like a beany hat indoors. It's amazing
how much heat is lost through the head. Just a thought!
