For Once…

entry picture

For once I didn’t open my eyes

                           And flick on the screen

Scan the news, designed to make me scream.

Posts and pictures of people “seizing the day”

Each not so subtly saying

“Look at me look at me”

Instead…

                 I poured coffee

With my first cigarette in hand

And looked at something naked

Apparently bare and alone

In the tiny plot of land

Below my flat

I’m not useless…

My winter will pass

I just have to keep still,

And not think of you

Making a good point. That around our self-obsessed selves the
rest of life carries on living and surviving as best it can and creating more of the same for the world to know.
