A well-wrought hymn of homage to a team that performed a great
feat when it mattered. I nearly stood and marched around the room to your inventive words, JC. Fancy...BOTH major European tournaments being contested by teams from England. One for the
record books.

Jason,

It is often said that a good poet is also a philosopher at heart and this poem albeit brief is such an example. Thank you for this

I am taken with your art as I can see clearly the influence of Science Fiction. I particularly liked the one with the Zeppelin issuing black tentacles. Any more?

Thanks

Stu,

This sent my mind into a flurry of thought. I had to read it several times. It has a profound quality which provokes many images. The opening line struck me as I find the search for God frustrating and almost unachieveable. An excellent work and thank you for this.

Rich,

This poem along with others you have written explores the human psyche with a strong sense of philosophy. I believe that all good poets are also philosophers at heart. Well done and thank you

I really love this poem.
Every person who reads it will relate to it - and take comfort from it.

Those gut wrenching dips of self doubt are, as Rich quotes "okay not to feel okay' and then we are urged "not to stray from happy thoughts"

Yes I really love it.

Always a pleasure David, and I know there are ripples that spread out in thought which are best dealt with face to face - even with that beard of yours! (especially). All i'll say is that subjective states cannot really be set in stone without bearing in mind how an individual experiences them - but I think the crowd factor plays a part in that environment.

Thanks David for your well considered comment - it offers an honest appraisal, and that should be what we do - rather than going to extreme views. There should always be an open window for considerations. I am as you know a bit mischievous and can take any side that might illustrate my feelings. I eat meat now and again, but never feel good about it. Peace, man. I was reading about the production of hamburgers in Germany, sold around the world, and it is indeed incredibly monitored ; probably better considered than the world's effluence I think we know.

Thanks Brian, that's on record !

Rachel, thanks - it's nice you trouble to clue up on issues to open up poems. That was quite a revelation, and in a way it just goes to show that life is precious . But we eat to survive!

Hair loss can be seen on both men, the area around the crown of the head being a frequent feature of this male trait. Back in Victorian/Edwardian days, the name Archibald was familiar, hence
the temptation to have a chuckle.

Nothing sinister just a dream about an old relationship that became too close for comfort. Perhaps some background is required. The fridge possibly a symbol of the family/ domestic security on offer.

Thanks to Nigel David and Jane for liking and Jason and Ray for commenting.

Ray you are right about the carry on theme, I hadn't quite considered that. One might expect Kenneth Williams to say those immortal words
'Oh matron' at anytime along with a giggling Barbra Windsor.

Jason I equate with your feelings towards hospitals. This was written as the result of a recent sojourn following another heart attack for which I am now recovering at home under my wife's strict ministrations. The upside was that I did a lot more reading which I had sadly neglected of late. But it meant I was climbing the walls so am glad to be out

Thanks to all for reading

love to all
