I fell a thousand miles

from your smile,


I remember them now 

as they lower you down.


This sea of time,

of a million tides

will soon retreat forever.


Our beach will drift 


its moated castles sunk

by relentless swell.  


So here come spades of earth,

to cover all that remains.


I loved you once

so always will,

Have you ever noticed how fast the years pass?

Like a speeding car zooming thru the countryside,

catching fleeting glimpses of objects becoming something.




Such is the impression when I get a job in the bakery,

twelve years after I quit.

My eyes open, who's still there; looking for a friendly familiar face.
