This probably doesn't say much about my writing, but I find trying to recall my poems line by line is a fast and effective way to fall back to sleep - in the anxious hours.

And thanks Po :) That is also a good idea.

My QWERTY was flirting
With what lay below
The AS DFGH
In bed they did go

Steam from my keyboard
Arose from this patch
While ZXCVB
Just gasped as they watch (this debauchery)

Ruth can you imagine
How dumbstruck was I ?
The rest of the letters
Said let's orgy try

You're right Ruth my keyboard
Erupted in flames
Your flirtatious QWERTY
They all are to blame

Eth? Can't Ruth control her QWERTY's ?....

Look what they did to Don's keyboard...

Left him with a flamin' orgy mess.....

You need to talk firmly to your QWERTY Ruth......

You tell 'er luv......

Brian
I won't get into a political/ideological argument with you. One thing I will say is that poetry, music, art can highlight the facts in a way that (say) tory newspapers will not.
This does not alter the fact that your initial comment missed the point - so just to make it clear: £2,000,000 of fireworks, indeed, fell on everyone. It was the homeless who would suffer most by that money not being spent on them. So, as with rainfall, it rained on everyone and everyone got wet. Some people suffered that wetness more than others. Not political - FACT.
I don't explain my poems normally - in this case I feel I had to ?

Ian, homelessness is a disgrace in a country as wealthy as the UK. Politics can solve it, not poetry. Unfortunately the party best equipped to solve it did not appeal to the demographic most at risk of homelessness...because they failed to represent their core vote's wishes. How mad is that?

It is about the homeless - and my comments are still valid about your challenge to that line - is there any wonder so many poems are about the homeless these days? As a good friend of mine is wont to say 'we fight until they lose'.

Brian - I think you may have had a point if the line had been 'fall only on lost souls in doorways' otherwise your comment supports the line as it is as lost souls are a sub-group of everyone ?

It's about someone I worked with once.
He literally couldn't turn left. Clocking out was ok because the clock machine was on his right, but to clock in he turned 270 degrees to the right because he couldn't turn left.

The Aussies cannot turn their back on the tourists money. NYE is an incredible experience in Sydney that I have been lucky enough to experience. It takes so long to organise it would be impossible to stop the night and foolish too. The waterfront businesses, shops, restaurants, bars and boat trips would lose millions! Get over it and look forward. Spend more money on early cool season burning (which didn't happen this year) to reduce the impact of the dry season. Saving a buck here and there is short-sighted. Lose the semantics and manage the land properly!

There, that should put a smile on your face Don, a pommie telling you what to do for a change!

Happy New Yer to al my Aussie mates (believe it or not there are quite a few).

(Ushered in some prose)
Easy, simple stuff to do
All done, there ya goes....

Rhyme on other hand Jasmine, is a very skilled art. Takes years and lotsa practice to reach our skill level (wouldn't you agree Po?) We are highly regarded and sought after on WOL, ....despite never having won poem of the week........such is life

Something real before they toss.....

Money 'way on coaster falls
Whether low or whether tall
Tried to tell them we are real
