OH JEREMY

entry picture

Oh Jeremy, Oh Jeremy

Pathetic were your chances;

Because of you the barmy Left

Let Boris win with daylight theft.

Your canvassers all heard it too-

They’d vote for Labour but for you;

Oh Jeremy, your legacy’s 10 more years of austerity.

Oh Jeremy, were we blind drunk

To think you had one ounce of spunk;

We must have been completely dense

To let you sit on Brexit’s fence;

Those golden pigs of which you’d speak

The WASPI Women, 4-day week;

Oh Jeremy, your legacy’s 10 more years of austerity.

That is indeed a puzzler, MC. Why would so many traditional Labour voters vote for the Party which had supervised the mess we are in for the last 10 years.
For my answer, see the poem above.

I can well imagine this being performed in "socialist" clubs in
certain parts of the UK under the alternative title "Dem Disillusion
Blues". 😎
I'm intrigued by the use of austerity as a stick with which to beat
the Tories. Logic - certainly of the political/vote sort - would seem
to dictate that NO political party seeking easy votes would actively
advocate, let alone inflict hardship on the population that can put it
- or keep it in power....unless (fill in the gaps!)..

If he doesn't, Brian, I may.

Surely you're not planning to take over the shouting John?

Thanks, Po and Brian.
Great poems, yourself, Po. And I don't think you've heard the last of the shouter, Brian.

Do you think he will have to sign on now Brian...
He will be sadly missed

No, no, I don't think he will

Thank God we don't have to hear that stupid song again.

Or listen to the shouter at Parliament Square.

..."With heads uncovered swear we all
To bear it onward till we fall;
Come dungeons dark or gallows grim,
John's song shall be our parting hymn".

Abandon hope all who live here
under the tyrants mendacities, rule of fear

Who can, will can, save the hour
unseat those dolts in halls of power.

Great poem John
