An accomplished poem, Russell. On a lighter note, I remember Greg Chappell of Australia hitting a streaker with his bat, but it didn't break. Neither did the streaker, if I remember.

Ha yes Stephen, I DID used to watch Quantum Leap. It was such a fun show. But I love cosmology documentaries these days. They're a GREAT antidote to real world stuff. I enjoy pondering on the really big questions like... there's one called Olbers Paradox.... and it's something like: IF the universe is INFINITE (and has been there forever)... then *why* is the night sky.... not FULL OF LIGHT?? It *would* be full of light.... if it had been there... forever, even tho stars do die.... because the light from **all the stars** would still be travelling and the sky would just be one massive light ball. But it's not. <--which, I find totally fascinating tbh. And I also LOVE the law of conservation of mass, where matter cannot be destroyed, it can only change down to its smaller iterations.
Hey, your wife does great work then by the sounds of it. I did similar things at break times. Sometimes I just used to stand in a toilet for the whole break time. It sounds SO sad--but I was kind of.. in my element, lol.. truly.. ππ

Corbyn offered a radical alternative. Perhaps the Party should have stuck with him on principle and been content with permanently holding the government to account rather than watering down their policies to gain the public vote?

Kevin you never fail your fans and this poem is no exception. I enjoy your writing because the reader is not only taken into the scene but even allowed to experience the emotions involved. The last stanza reminds me of a time many years ago when a soldier and sitting in the NAAFI with a mate. We were both three sheets to the wind when he exclaimed, "hey mate, do farts have lumps in them". He had also followed through.
Thanks again for a superb poem rich as always in humour

A fascinating & eye opening read, Jo. My wife works at a ' special ' school for kids with all manner of kids with, so called difficulties. Quite a few on the autism 'spectrum' There's a boy who sits facing the wall at break time so he doesn't catch anyone's eye
in case he has to speak. Very introverted, but intelligent & happy in his own company. Is that a problem?
Had to Google Susskind, sounds right up my street. Except I have no idea what it means... And, I have to ask, did you ever used to watch Quantum Leap ( The very accurate TV programme - and don't say it wasnt)π

Thanks very much, Greg, John and Graham. I do my best to manage anger but it's sometimes not easy in view of what is going on.
I get the ridicule point, Graham. It's true that the more obnoxious these dictators become, the more absurd things look. Think of the Belarus generals with their oversized hats or the practised, hysterical clapping in North Korea. Yes, the parade seemed more jackbooted than ever.
My thanks once again for all the kind comments.

This parade for many of us in the West has always been(to me) a thing of ridicule. The irony for me is that Putin declares he is removing naziism from Ukraine and yet his troops resemble the jackbooted strutters of 1939 more than ever!
A fine observation. Well done Stephen.
