All Fall Down...

entry picture

Down in the valley

Where wild things grow

There came a mist

Of long ago

Within the haze:

A nursery rhyme

Lullabying

Dark webs of time

Ring o' Rosie

If you please

Come float with us

Upon the breeze

It gets so lonely

Down in the ether

So Mother says

It's time to feed her

Pockets full

Of posies rare

From a time

No longer there

Their fragrance lingers

Oh so sweet

It makes ye smell

So good to eat!

So, come on through

Our lovely veil

Where things are rare

And skin is pale

A-tishoo! A-tishoo!

we all fall down

An' wriggle like worms

'Neath soily ground

An' there we'll sprout

All good 'n rotten

An' childish things

Be long forgotten

We'll stuff ye full

Of  finest posies

An' skip an' sing

O' Ring O' Rosie!

The mist: it creeps

Down Valley low

To feed its pestilent

Undertow

For children's laughter

Is oh! So sweet

They are the finest

Cuts of meat!

Thank you, John, appreciated
And Stephen, yes I've always found it a tad sinister 😵
And thanks for the likes! 🌈

A fine poem. Love the "dark webs of time."

A cautionary tale, Stephen. Hundreds of years worth of horror!
