I have to admit to not knowing about Celia but the poem makes me want to find out.
Love all the reasons you give why someone is or isn't famous.
Someone who did so much and is just a footnote.
Brilliant piece.

This is a wonderful poem Laura.
From the very first line I thought of Stephen Hawking.
Then the topical issues, poison on the streets and the way we can overcome things if we try.
It's all there.
Love your work.

Sorry...I'm afraid I can't accept the use of the 'c' word. I'm not a prude...I use virtually every other swear word but this one is beyond the pale for me.

Wonderful title that puts all this into perspective Stu. The juxtaposition of tenderness and violence has a real impact, and shows how emotions can range and cause great rifts .
Powerful and superb stuff.

? ? thanks for getting that last line. I always think 'oh, it's too obvious' and then worry that no one will get it ?
I honestly tried a load of ways to avoid saying cunt, but failed miserably on this occasion ? I was so made up when SH took him on.
Yeh, it definitely opens up the 'what happens afterwards' idea doesn't it, knowing that he's gone over (or not).
Thanks David
Thanks Stephen ?

Hugh For me the credibility was lost in the second line. Why wouldn't you just wash the sweater at home using soap flakes? This would not only remove the stain but leave the garment nice and soft. You've also paid the Wong Brothers probably far too much and they haven't achieved anything. Hope this helps for potential future occurrences. ?

Hi Tom,
Congratulations on winning POTW. Lovely poem, especially:
The cat peeking out hesitantly,
the little birds dusting their wings,
each know the slightest stroke
could spoil the canvas..

Stu, you are one outstanding writer, with a throat grip like a killing wrestler. It must be difficult to have a mind so varied and so active, so probing - all the time. And then, your imagination turns words into skeins of imagery that are completely captivating.
I wonder how easy you are to live with. Even with yourself. Such intensity.

I really like this. Thoughtful and powerful. It's so good, will you check the second line, 'who've have forgot' to see if you might say it more clearly, because I'm not at all sure what you wanted. I think you might mean 'who have forgotten'.
Always with respect.

I love this. The repetition of certain words works really well and the images blend into each other almost as if we are standing in silently swirling snow. The white of the snow and swan and mist is neatly juxtaposed with the bloody red rose petals. Very, very good Mahika. Welcome to WoL. All the best. Colin.

this is a delightful poem Tom and one that sends the reader off into the parts of the landscape that are overlooked and unseen from footpaths and byways. Often there is a reason we don't go there - nothing much to see but the 'limits of the field' - but there your man has found a quiet spot for contemplation and communing with nature. Marvellous. And well done on POTW btw. All the best. Col.
