lovely Isurugi but if you'll pardon me I think the first line would have kicked the haiku off much better had it read
'Try growing with me' and that would have nicely connected it to the word 'root' Thank you. Jemima.

Wow. Pretty dark stuff. But the emotions in here are so strongly written that I can feel the pain the narrator is in. Besides depression, I got the strong feeling of helplessness in here -- not only by the narrator, but also by anyone trying to help the narrator.

This is one of those poems that I would describe as being timeless in as much it could be pitched at almost any point in time and it will be interesting to see people in the future read it and take in its full significance
Nice one Keith

It's good to get thoughts going David. Especially on important issues like life and death. I often have an idea that feels good and see what happens. In the expansion of the theme, with fugue and counterpoint as it were, you have hit on a truism. I read the comments of a minister called Sarah Newton from 2017 re knife crime, and as ever the theme is larded with platitudes written by people with no imagination or personal inspiration . From the top down it looks depressing. The police have to implement on the ground, probably hampered by lack of funding and the usual plod predicaments. I truly believe that there is a sort of innate glamour to knives, which( like your poem about tongues ) can be hidden and brought out with shock effect. I myself am fascinated by them, and admire the way they are manufactured with real skill .

Thanks for liking , Col.

This sounds like a person at a crossroads in life, especially at a painful decision point in a relationship. I liked the repetition of "whole night" at the end of each stanza.

definitely no patronising comments from us but according to the way you write we think it will be YOU who is the person who will rescue YOU

you are self-analysing and that is the best thing to do in our books.
As much as these so-called experts try to help none of them can possibly know the REAL you.

Hope this doesn't come over as patronising but we sincerely wish you luck.

Artur, these words are spoken with an inner faith and beauty. Are you familiar with the Indian Poet Rabindranath Tagore, the author of ´Gitan jali ´a collection of his poems in English? There is a similarity to this work of yours and his. Thank you. Keith

Never knew that about Wetwang, Stu. We didn't stray that far when we lived in York. But I certainly remember Richard Whiteley from watching Yorkshire TV's Calendar at the time. And reporter Edwina Tarpley, who was always very concerned about "Gwimsby's" fishing industry. Rightly so, as it turned out.

Thanks for giving this one a look-over, Ray. I wrote it a few years ago at a poetry workshop at Surbiton library run by Alison Hill. I attended the workshop partly for sentimental reasons - I used to frequent the library as a sixth-former many years before, bunking off school to read poetry instead. Gary Snyder was one of my favourites at that time.
