Little white van? I'm curious...where are you?
I can tell you that there - without fail -
It's always red for our Royal Mail.
Plus - the postie comes up to the door
And its letter-box sees mail drop on the floor.

I quite like how you framed the day as an object to be broken. That line tethered the beginning to the ending.
Nicely done, Jon.?

Well with the right code words and cart of items, you too can order thermite or a Czech flare gun from them!
I'm sure you could find a Russian bride on there too if you threw enough shit together on there.?

Thanks again both. David, to your point- I agree the urge to say things explicitly sometimes is at the detriment of the actual 'poetry'. I know that urge just to give opinions, recently I tried experimenting with polemic stuff but found it really hard to get it right.

Where I live there is so much petrified wood and arrowheads it's hard to go into the mountains or cliffs without tripping over them.
You could feel the excitement build in this piece, well done. ?

Australia Post or Royal Mail
Did cause this long delay
Brian categorically states
Royal Mail? No way
Could card have sat in letterbox
Alone, forlorn, forgotten?
Postie didn't notice
It stuck fast on the bottom?
In final desperation
Poor card shrieked out "I'm here!"
Your postie wondered what struck him
He stumbled back (in fear)
Never in his rounds
Had letters responded thus
The card was therefore rescued and
Airlifted quick to us
Brian, now the problem
Lay with your wet postbox
Which wasn't nice on our card
Delivered it some knocks ?

Don't get me started.!
Use old-fashioned nappies.
Hang them on the line as a symbol
Of your eco-modernist status.
AND SAVE MONEY!

A subtle pop at the disposable nappy industry which we have all contributed to at some time or other I expect. As a new grandad I am acutely aware of how many she goes through. Good one Ray.

Thanks Taylor, Brian and M.C. Of course this is a true story, but like all the best tales it has been exaggerated.
My Dad was a chronic alcoholic and that caused us great hardship. But I realised that it was a disease like any other, and he couldn't help what he was.

I didn't know that Amazon
Sold animals to you
How do they dk deal with
Deal with transit poo?
Your cat's would be quite miniscule
A dribble in the box
But elephants from Amazon?
Shit! boulders, no not rocks
Don't mock me gentle reader
Amazon's power has grown
The next thing they'll be doing
Is sending 'phants on drones
(Watch out for falling boulders...) ?

Disconcerting stuff - leaving readers to come up with their own
imaginings about what had gone on. But the lines about the curtain
are real Alfred Hitchcock material (so to speak)..
