DO NOT

entry picture

Do not go mad

do not panic

do not chase after fact and reason

as if such things exist.

There isn't enough time

to be offended by this world.

We only have this moment

slipping from us,

the sun on your bare arms

and newspaper

leaving the table

and coffee

to cross the street

towards the trees

now emptying

of birds.

Similar sentiment to be found in Cafe Scene.
Just going through your back catalogue.

I do feel the panic, and I can feel it slipping away, but rarely!!! Most of the time I'm drowning in it, and my trees are full.
Thankfully.

Thanks again both. David, to your point- I agree the urge to say things explicitly sometimes is at the detriment of the actual 'poetry'. I know that urge just to give opinions, recently I tried experimenting with polemic stuff but found it really hard to get it right.

I agree with this with its bitter sweetness and mild despair Tom. Some must keep scratching at things until all that's left is marks. I noticed right in the middle is that life is slipping from us and a sort of justification after that which is perfect. Birds carry such hope for us, but they have their own agendas, from which we can truly learn . Another winner.
