REMEMBERING

When the sunrise loses hope

birds stop singing,

an aura gathers around the rim

then there's too much remembering

looking back for answers

which never come,

only questions that hang in the air

then sink down with secrets

in the blood red setting sun.

Ghazala, so pleased you looked back on this - mostly triggered by the armistice day. Thank you.

apologies for the late response everyone.

I wanted to précis the sense of sadness in looking back to a lost cause. I am so pleased it has been received well.

Thanks Taylor, my point exactly.

Thanks for being moved to write that Big Sal, appreciated.

True, Douglas, true. Thanks.

Martin thanks for spotting that opener. Always helps to have an interesting start I reckon!

Hannah, many thanks indeed.

I am heartily encouraged with so many likes, more than I ever had in three years of WOL. Sorry I won't name you all if you don't mind this time!!

Love Ray

Open with sunrise and end with sunset. Nice.

Can we whet blood from the sun like the garnets of a stone? I guess we may never know truly, but one thing that will always be known is the futility in trying. Until then I'll be content to catch the sun in a jar (a line) for as long as I can, until night comes and we succumb to another dreadful retelling of the same old tale of indifference.

I apologize for my tangent, Ray, great piece as usual and as I'm sure you got by this point in reading the comment. Keep up the great work.?
