Between the Moonbeams.

Between the Moonbeams.

Could it be that you are the summer rain caressing my skin

While drenching my soul

To ease the pain

My heart rises up to meet the dawn

Knowing your love runs through it

Like a river greeting the ocean

With a weary yawn -

In the knowledge that finally

It has somewhere to lie

I catch your smile with the lightness

Mellifluous Waves.

The roaring wind

Has taken it’s vengeance

Invading my body

And smashing the glass cage surrounding

My fragile heart

No beseeching

No reaching arms

Can save it now

My eyes swell as I see my heart

Being carried to the ocean

I yearn for it’s return

How can I save it now!

There it is!

Time to Say Goodbye.

Whispers rustle

Through the leaves

Bird wings unsettle

Summer air

Laughter echoes

Back and forth

Between the trees

Anxious dogs

Bark their unease

The sun

Has lost it’s midday glare

The skies cry ~

A storm is nigh

I guess it’s time

To say goodbye.

Tenter hooks and Telling Looks.

With your hand around my throat

You declare your love for me

With a flame held to my eye

You tell me you would rather see me die

It will be your hand that takes my life

Rather than see me with another man

Your love for me drives you mad

And so I must travel

To the edge of madness with you

And never show that

It makes me sad

I drive you to distraction

Mirror to my Soul.

Through the undulating glass

The darkness is disarmed

By flaming flickers

Of candlelight

The night cloak

Is snuffed out

The storm is raging

The Gods are mad

They send sharp shapes

Through the maudlin sky

Their fingers seem to point at me

I see my fear reflected

It’s forcing me to stare

Demanding unrelentingly

That I should take pity

On this ...

Through a Child’s Eyes.

Through a child’s eyes

I saw her laid out

She looked like an angel

All peaceful

And innocent

It was as if

She had been newly born

And I thought to myself

With a child’s mind

This is death

Death is beautiful

It restores your faith

In human nature

Death is where

Finally you can be good

Her peaceful presence

Startled me

Made me ques...

I Want My Forever Back.

You took my heart

Like one takes a book

From the library

You never told me

I was on a return

I gave you my heart

Naively

Imagined forever

Without an end

What is this?

I’ve found a pile of library hearts

All with date stamps

Some even have fine notices attached

You didn’t even bother

To take them back

You just left them scattered;

Co...

Chalk and Cheese

Not for you to tell us how to live

I care nothing for your faux wisdom

Such wise words fed to you on a silver spoon

To have walked in my shoes

Would be an insult for you

Were you crying tears

Or living in the wonder years?

As you were dressed in arrogance

Many were left in rags

And now you demand

That we live under your golden rules

I care nothing fo...

Sunny.

Did you know

That the moon paints the sky black at night,

Just so that she will shine brighter?

The stars are actually just remnants

Of paint spatters.

The moon has a sister

Called sunny.

And she’s a painter too!

Sunny’s favourite colour is blue

But she likes to paint in many different  hues.

If the moon is low key;

Sunny is high

She much prefers a bri...

Tick With The Tock

It’s that time again

I know I am not alone

The records show

A history of millions

Each of whom

Have at some point

Felt the same

When exhaustion wreaks havoc

On old bones

Disillusion leads to further confusion

Grief has taken it’s toll

Poverty has left us to graze

In a sandy, rocky paddock

The body is weak

The mind broken

But the soul

The so...

Love

Love is not a place

It’s a space

It’s the door you leave open

It’s the things that you do

Without leaving a trace

Love, it’s a peculiar thing

You can’t touch it

It leaves no scent

But when you feel it

It feels heaven sent

It’s like the air that you breath

You won’t see it

But you’ll know

When it’s not there

Love, fundamental

Sometimes or...

Is It True?

Should the poet

Fall out of love

With words

And the artist

Become colour blind

If the singer

Is suddenly

Struck dumb

And the author

Rendered numb

Surely

The stars

Would fall from the sky

Leaving the moon behind

To cry

The trees would grieve

Flowers would die

Missing a lullaby

For without Art

In all it’s forms

What is ...

I Knew the Sun would Shine.

They said I’d never make

A good poet

So I told them they could throw it

To the wind

For all I cared

I knew the sun would shine

On those who dared

And so I dared

To share

I gathered words

I wove them with emotion

Gently placed them

Into empty spaces

Sat back

And watched the wonder

On peoples faces

I took tears

And smiles

Grief

People Like Us

People like us

We weren’t born to win

Girl, don’t you know

We were conceived

In the womb of sin

I’d tell you a story

But it is hard to know

Where to begin

I don’t know

Where it ends

Perhaps it depends …

On what?

I can’t say

So let’s just live

For today

The pavements for us

Are not lined with gold

It’s not even promised

That we’ll grow...

Indelible.

If I could find the words

I would put them down on paper

Yes, and there they would stay

Perhaps until the end of time

Someday

Maybe in a thousand years

If the earth hasn’t turned to ash

And my words on paper

Have survived

You will read them

And on that day

You will realise

Just what you mean

To me

Finally, you will understand

And you wil...

Stick it where the sun don’t Shine!😂

We don’t want an International Women’s Day

All we want is equal pay!

It would be great if we could walk the streets alone

Without the need to find comfort in our phones

How nice it would be

If we felt safe

Within the walls

Of our own homes!

We don’t need one day a year

What we need

Is to live each day of our lives

Free from fear!

We would quite ap...

Back Into The Grey

Dawn has barely broken

But he pulls his weary bones from the comfort of his bed

Finding his feet

As he rubs his aching head

Blurry eyed and tongue tied

He stumbles into the greyness

Of his life

Turning briefly to glimpse

His sleeping wife

As she groans and turns

Onto her side

A quick glance

Tells him there is no time

For romance

The ticking of t...

The Scent of Life

You have bathed in the ocean breeze

When life is good

It smells of freesias

Apples and pears

You waft into the room

With the scent of a life that is good

I try to remember that feeling

When life smelt of lemons

And pears

Your presence gives me hope

More than that

It makes me want to live

To dance

To breathe

But then you are gone

And I am ...
