I Want My Forever Back.

entry picture

You took my heart

Like one takes a book

From the library

You never told me

I was on a return

I gave you my heart

Naively

Imagined forever

Without an end

What is this?

I’ve found a pile of library hearts

All with date stamps

Some even have fine notices attached

You didn’t even bother

To take them back

You just left them scattered;

Covered in dust

I think you are spineless

I want my forever relinquished

You seem to have judged me by my cover

Never felt the need

To read between the lines

If you had …

You would have realised

I am a rare edition

Sought after by many

So you best get me to the library

Before they notice

I am missing.

Another classic, Classic. Sardonic humour with style. Love it!

I loved the metaphorical representation of a library and a book to that of person and her heart. Thank you for this.

The analogy and irony a perfectly matched. A superb poem.
Thank you for this
