Stick it where the sun don’t Shine!😂

We don’t want an International Women’s Day

All we want is equal pay!

It would be great if we could walk the streets alone

Without the need to find comfort in our phones

How nice it would be

If we felt safe

Within the walls

Of our own homes!

We don’t need one day a year

What we need

Is to live each day of our lives

Free from fear!

We would quite appreciate

If contraception was safe

In the hands of our mates!

I’d rather not have to suffer

Period and labour pains

Don’t get me started on the menopause

Fuck the cruelty of nature’s law!

And what about

Our financial gains ?

Equal pay is still regarded

With disdain!

It would be great

If we could go about our lives

Without being objectified

We are so much more

Than breasts and thighs!

I am worthy of respect

365 days of the year

So you can take your measly

One day of cheer

And stick it where

The sun don’t shine!

A clarion call for respect, Clare. You make the point with real clarity. Yes, these principles should run 365 days per year (and 366 in leap years).

Clare a poem of strong words which are appropriate indeed not only for one day but for always. The problem is not only the discrimination against women but an evil which lurks throughout the whole of society. The word is prejudice. When this is eradicated we will be able to respect each other. Sadly I feel that day is slow in coming. In the meantime do as I do, as a gay man; be bloody difficult and stand up for yourself when you encounter this evil and show people where the sun don't shine.
Thank you for an excellent poem. I can assure you that I live in the clear light of day and not up some orifice.
