De Lacy Street Blues

entry picture

When I woke up this morning
My head was in a mess
My woman she gone and left me
And it's giving me major stress
Breakfast is on the table
But I can't eat a bite
My coffee has gone stone cold
And I'm in the mood for a fight

Hey mister-I'm gonna cuss and shout
Hey brother what's it all about
Hey sister ain't you heard the news
Lord, looks like I been struck down with
De Lacy Street Blues

I called up the big boss
And told him I was sick
He called me a lying critter
I said your job you can stick
The bills they keep on coming
And the bank is on the phone
If I don't make a payment soon
I'm gonna lose my home

Hey mister-I'm gonna cuss and shout
Hey brother what's it all about
Hey sister ain't you heard the news
Lord, looks like I been struck down with
De Lacy Street Blues

The days they last forever
And the nights they never end
Hey god in heaven I'm waiting
A miracle for you to send
An angel just fell from the sky
She said I was her kind of guy
Got myself a brand new life
Now I'm on a natural high

Hey mister-I'm gonna jump for joy
Hey brother I'm a happy boy
Hey sister ain't you heard the news
Lord, looks like I just escaped from
De Lacy Street Blues

Loved this one, Tom. Has a catchy rhythm to it too, one of the best poems that I've read recently!
Thank you.

A very well written and composed poem. It possessed a certain harmony which I enjoyed. Thank you for this,
Keith

It’s always a bonus, Tom, to wake up in the morning.
