Life of the dipping bird

entry picture

( Dipper )

Lack of webbed feet

nevertheless a water loving of

and living in bird

one with white collared waistcoated

and brown suited dress sense

tiptoeing between stream bedded rocks

turning over those that are both light and food promising enough

unpeturbed by the rushing waters overhead and all around

disliking the feel of dry ground beneath his naily feet

habitually flittering from one wet stone perching to another

bob bob bobbing on each

taking an occasional look under the surface

before plunging and in a trice risen

with filled beak

heading nestwards

to replenish the widely gaping mouths of his offsprings

kept safe and out of predatorial eyesights

behind a wall of liquid strings

A poem composed through serious observation. I enjoyed the first stanza which described the vesture of the bird. Very imaginative.
Thank you for this,
Keith
