Eternal Dusk
In the twilight of eternal dusk, so cold and vast
Where the night stretches mercilessly, shadows cast
Wanders Conan the barbarian on a path so dire
Lost in the storm of a cruel fate, ensnared by fire
Shadows lengthen, dark serpents glide
Echoes of the past are screams that cannot hide
In the vortex of a destiny wrapped in anguish tight
The steel of his blade mirrors terror’s f...

Dusk
At day my head motors, purrs, covers the ground, works
Come dusk my head flits, tilts, twitches, looks to fly and flee
The darkness, draws me, pulls me
More space, less noise, life brighter, sharper
Dusk, a mind switch, a chance

Putting Out the Lamp
Putting Out the Lamp
In the dusk of early evening one day
I awakened from a belated nap,
And came to find nobody back home yet,
Only the wall lamp flickering away.
I, the child, quickly getting quailed,
Started running away from the dark haunted place,
But soon stopped for looking backward
For some reasons I couldn't quite grasp.
Probably it was the left-a...

Life?
For me, life is neither a day
nor a fearful night:
It's marching ahead
between the horizons,
sometimes, swaying the swing
towards the golden rays,
and the other times,
pushing it deep into the dark
to make me smother.
Perhaps It's more a dusk
travelling towards the night,
and abruptly receiving a call
of the mischievous dawn,
playing hide and seek

Ystrad Fflur: Dusk
Who will ever tell or know
the unheard silent echoes
from passing lives laid low:
those ghosts of chanted psalms
once melodious in their praise
lie buried beneath the turf
within walls they helped to raise;
and who can see the cowled monks
whose ghostly whispered prayers
whose canticle or hymn
whispers through the evening's airs -
through the great stone entrance a...

Evening Light
An almost mystic silence
descends on the lambent, lamb bent,
lamb bobbing fields
as the West sinking sun
leaves an early evening light,
the day has almost passed:
the bright pale green of the new larch buds
the rusty pink brown of the budding almond
the gold of a burgeoning dog wood
are set against
the solid darkness of a solitary fir tree
the soft clouds in a...

Lunar
Last night the moon
orange sickle bright
seemed too large, low
hung over hedges
briefly eclipsed
by passing trees
dimmed by
closer light yet
always the lit
rondure
discovered
its umbral orb
to me -
I was driving
in the moondark
night

Today
on the drive home
the transcendent wonder
of the clear ice blue rimmed with golden pink
and the blackness of trees
horizon silhouettes
and bats

My Sunset Haiku as a Sunset Englyn
My Sunset Haiku [1] as a Sunset Englyn [2]
A green flash from the setting sun - and night
Now sea and sky are one
Dusk from the gold orb is spun
Thus this mystic day is done
______
1.
Where sea and sky meet
a green flash from the set sun
Lighting distant shores
2.
The Welsh englyn unodl union is a straight one-rhymed englyn consi...

Beyond Death
I find that I must live in a world
Where, between that desperate dusk and a new dawn,
And between many a dawn and its dusk,
The only reality lies in love.
To be in love in that first dawn
And in the dusk, was to feel the sun
Warm our very passion every minute of every hour,
Reality lay only in the other.
And beyond that dreadful dusk, nothing
but dawns and dusk and ...

breathing in the dusk
breathing in the dusk
bonfire permeates failing light
on this humid August night
midges cloud the air in flight
amassing as they dance and bite
the ghostly moon yet to rise
haunts the pale indigo skies
a rook upon a wire cries
failing breath as summer dies
heavy mist on stubbled corn
scarecrow’s jacket ripped and torn
path to orchard frayed and worn
twilight bleeds across the law...
