Close to the fire

I'm on the edge of myself,
where skin is not enough
and desire spreads
like a nameless flame.

On your body - a mirror of absence -
I search for myself:
a burning instant
between now and nevermore.

The flesh longs for verb,
but all is silence
when I touch you with my soul.

I am a lit shadow,
I am a blind word,
wanting you
where you no longer are.

And in the dark of the room

Smouldering

I was at a loose end

Coiled up for action

Capable of anything

Any hot infraction

 

You fanned my flame

Got me into a fever

Never let me sit still

Pulling every lever

 

Combustion failed us

From sad mouldering

We barely rose above

A gentle smouldering

 

We tried to rekindle

Gave the fire a poke

Rubbed twigs together

Lit not coal but coke

FIRE

 

Fire is so beautiful in its own deadly way.

A diverse visual cacophony of colours

all thrown together, each a different

element back in its base gas. Chemical release.

Thick dense smoke curls upwards,

forming a choking cloud which glows

blood red from the wicked flames.
