A gem that gives the impression it is bursting at the seams
with a dozen other poems. I'm sure they would all be just as wise and wonderful.

Thanks guys for this extensive and fitting tribute to a wonderful guy - I had no idea just how much Dave had achieved and how widely his interests and influence spread. And the photos are an absolute delight. There was nobody like him and he will indeed leave a Dave-shaped hole that's going to take some filling

Was it Bette Davis (or maybe Joan Crawford?) who observed that
old age ain't for sissies? I have the feeling that in making my
leisurely way towards 76, I have as much right to discuss the
subject as anyone - and probably more than most on WOL - and.
will offer assurance that possessing a sense of humour is a great plus towards looking after number one in later life.

Thanks for coming through David. I'm glad you looked into it, and to be honest I didn't have a plan, but liked the idea of it, and perhaps the thing behind it is the unreachable elements of life and the inevitable question is there a God that remains out of the picture for some and apparently all seeing for others, the ice being the division some may feel about it. Yours is an interesting take; we are a bit like sea urchins with so many sensors that one may brush past like a fish and activate the whole person. That in itself is a fairly ghostly concept (at least today). Medication time obviously or the coat.

I love the scant and powerful symmetry and sculpting of the writing Rachel, there's a sort of honour in it that reminds me of Graham Greene.

A very philosophical poem tinged with good humour. I am fast approaching such an age with all its incumbent problems. A big yes to stains on my shirt.
Thanks for this

Don,
A poem which asks some interesting questions especially so in the penultimate stanza. I believe that I write primarily for myself and to seek comments. I find poetry cathartic and to some extent I am being self indulgent.
A good poem and thanks

I wish for your friend some relief and to thank you for reading and responding. It is all very depressing and while I only feel clinically that way occasionally it certainly can be exacerbated by the hopelessness of the news cycle.

I see that you have learned here
Stay way from sex (it mires)
Sex life of fish good to avoid
Avoided pan to fire
(Good decisions John.....)
It seems however, lack you
In skills conversion-pannic
Perhaps you should have night-schooled first
Before your pan-titanic
(Not a good decision here John...)

Mae...so much pain comes across in this extremely well written poem. I only wish that the dead piled plaguey letters did not beg for love from one who had none to give but instead composted into the earth to become flowers....but I like corny cheesy happy endings. Don't hold it against me.

Thanks to Leon for liking. thanks also to Keith and Devon for your comments.
Its a poem for me that is about a young woman lost in her own world. A world of painting and music. I personally could not draw or paint if life depended on it but I have a real appreciation of that form of expression as well as music and the written word. I partly had thoughts of Joni Mitchell in mind who is both a prolific painter as well as singer songwriter. a truly gifted lady.
Thanks again Guys

Martin, I like this poem mucho. So carefully crafted, this pulled me into the scene with its movement, silence amid noise, contemplation, etc. There is a magnificent building of tension throughout and the resolution is outstanding.

A rich portrayal of the senses. This poem took me there. I felt I was in an apartment above a city with a river beneath my window. The languid stirrings of an artist. Very well written. Thank you for this. Keith
